Anyone considering long tubes should be able to pick up a catless set up with lead pipes for mid $600 range on a deal.

there really isn't a "massive"price difference we have some 304 headers starting as low as 699..........
There is a massive price difference when you factor in that the only shops I could find in SoCal to do the install want at least $800.

I actually had a great quote for some long tubes before I pulled the trigger on my cat deletes but like I posted above - labor would cost more than the mod itself! :frusty::frusty::frusty:

I have a Mak cat delete kit installed with my MBRP race cat back and its pretty loud. I couldn't see spending $750+ for 1 7/8" LT's and off road leads.. I didn't even want to spend the $400 for the Mak kit.. I bought a used mak kit that included the drivers side manifold with the flange already welded to it so all I had to do was swap them out and install the Mak pipes, got the kit for a damn good price to. Then I came across a local deal that I couldn't pass up for a set of low mile SP 1 7/8" LT's with all clamps, hardware, O2 extensions, hardware and off road leads that have a factory style connection point. I think I might just sell the LT's though because I cant justify all that work of installing them for another 5-10hp (IF that) over what I currently have.

Did you have to remove the driver's side motor mount bracket to get the stock header off and install the header with flange on?

I was all set on the cat deletes but when I saw the price I decided I might as well get the long tubes for just a bit more. The only significant savings, in my opinion, is on the install and that is free if you do it yourself.

I'm happy with my MAK Cat Deletes. I couldn't justify the labor cost nor the price increase going to headers. My car runs well, trapping 119.71 mph. Not too shabby.

MAK Cat deletes

Anyone running these here in Florida? Any problems with the local police?
Looking at this as an option. I would I imagine tuning is involved.

I will second this. Went h-pipe and muffler delete the same day an S197 5.0 went offroad LT's and Corsa Extreme's and his car was louder lol.
My vehicle has the same setup and the x-pipe, catless extreme, stock headers setup I heard in person was louder, but tone wise, it sounded obnoxious in an undesirable way. Way too raspy and tinny for my taste.

I'm not in FL but if you need to pass emissions inspection you can just unbolt the cat delete pipes and bolt the original catted pipes back in. Only 4 bolts per side. This is what I plan on doing.

Lund did not need to adjust my tune, but rear O2s need to be turned off it they arent already in your existing tune. Otherwise you'll get a CEL.

Yes, you do.

I have the same setup. It's about a 3-4 hour job to swap driver side headers and the passenger midpipe.

If you bring it to a shop for install they can cut and weld the flange on with the header on the car.

This is what I did. Makes for easy swapping. I just put my catz back on for the winter. The noise and smell gets to be a pain in the ass at time

Running Maks with Solo catback, plenty of pop and flames out the back. (on a lund tune).

I've been running catless setups for years on my cars down here with no issues. I think you'll need a tune just to clear out the CEL.

I set out to buy a header already deleted so I could save the stock parts in case I ever needed to go back to factory. Which I just did a few weeks ago. The car used to be a weekend cruiser but now that it's my daily, the noise and smell got annoying.

I have the deleted header and midpipe for sale in case anyone is interested.
