Welcome to the forum...I reckon that quote should go in your signature ;)

Great choice btw
Oh, don't, please. I'm a big fan of the S3. Nearly bought one (actually, for my wife) but got the S1 instead. Brilliant cars. Dull? Mmmmmm... a bit, but you get other traits instead.

So cars are being built and on their way... but yet we still don't know how much they'll be? That's some confidence! :D

To be fair, I keep seeing an auto RS3 fly around Newbury, hold fuck does it sound good!

Good point on the price.. Gibbo205 - have you asked the question again? I'm curious to know!

I had a Sepang Blue S3 Sportback (S-Tronic). They'd only just released Sepang as a standard (ÂŁ550) option, and I changed my Daytona Grey order for it.

I came to regret that decision, as from that point on Sepang Blue became like assholes (i.e. everyone has one). I should have stuck with my original choice.

Around town I may as well have been driving the 1.6 as the interior was identical and the car was so quiet. When I did get out for a hoon, it felt too quick for the chassis (pogo) and I got rapidly bored of the S-tronic, the blown 4 pot and the fart noise gear changes. I just like changing gears myself.

It is a nice car, just not for me :D

My buddy on the other hand loves his Revo Stage 2 hatch (yup - Sepang).

The right tires on a supercharged stang and it and it will beat a golf from 0 to 60.Plenty of guys on here putting their power down just fine.
No it won't. Even if it does, then just same tyre on Golf and your losing again. Mustangs really struggle to go sub 4s, MY18 is the first to achieve this, the MY15 are practically impossible to get under 4s unless on a drag/sticky tyre, that is hardly real world performance.

The Golf nails 0-60 in sub 4s in the wet, in the dry its closer to 3s. On Sunday a Golf R was running 11.3@121mph, 0-60 was 2.99s, 0-100 was 7.2s, sorry but Mustangs cannot match it and the Golf makes it so easily accessible, don't race one, it will hand you your ass from a stand still to legal speeds. But as said here, its not a Mustang, its quite dull and boring because its too good, looks like a Golf and it sounds well pretty crap and it farts.

Absolutely :amen:

I sold the S3 as it was errrrm dull. A few mates suggested I kept modding it to Stage 2/3 etc. but the problem wasn't how quick it was. Making it quicker wasn't going to make it any better, for me anyway

I can fully relate to this.

The Golf is just a means of going A to B and it does it quick and very well. Its the fastest car I have ever owned but its very typical VAG group, its totally fantastic but really is dull to drive, yes being able to beat most things on the road and accelerate so fast is fun, but its so easily accessible you rarely feel challenged.

The Mustang is such an event from just looking at it, listening to it, starting it and to pedal it well is challenging, you need to drive it with skill or it will bite you in the ass. The Golf you can do crazy stuff and its so forgiving and if you know how to drive 4WD fast they are hugely capable at covering ground, even the worse of roads in the worse of conditions.

Mustang is exciting and makes you smile to drive, even if its not the quickest, the Golf is more a tool than a fun thing, if that makes any sense.

Totally spot on

I found myself in the S3 after a few weeks getting bored of using the paddles and just selecting normal or comfort, and letting it do it's thing, changing up at 1,900 in town. I found dynamic (race on an R?) unusable unless you were on track.

I followed a new S3 home the last day, he hammered away from every junction while I 'managed' the P-zeros :lol:there's no way I would have kept up. However at the lights, I suspect he was checking out the rear mirror to find out why his car appeared to now be making a nice noise (answer, there's a V8 behind you).

Fast, effective - absolutely, and if you had to get somewhere very quickly on a damp B road - ideal. An occasion - no :D

Looking forward to you getting the new 5.0, as reading your posts and reviews has played a large role in me having the big black beast on the driveway :headbang:

Yes Race mode, I use it a lot haha, but as people will here tell you I am a bit bonkers behind the wheel and will just drive a car flat out happily on the road, I've not being caught yet. :D

But yeah trip to work, ECO mode and auto, let it do its thing, so comfy and so German, it just works. Race mode if the road opens up and I drive it like someone possessed.

I got it as a Winter car that was quick and capable, I just never quite expected this level of performance, my car is stage 1 but even a stock Golf R is no slouch, but where the 2.0TFSi and the 5 pot VAG motors shine is how much they gain from a simple ÂŁ500 remap and even going to Stage 2 is around ÂŁ1200, compared to the Mustang its peanuts and your gaining around 100HP and 120lb/ft by doing so that translates into real world performance.

But I've said this before if my own goal was real world performance I'd just buy a GTR every time, though actually I might change that, because in fact the fastest road car now you can buy is an Audi RS3 or TT RS, they will lay waste to a GTR and only stuff like a hyper car will fend them off, but apart from sounding a little better they are really still just as dull as a Golf R or S3.

But get this, the new RS3 with just a stage 1 remap will go 10.55@125mph in quarter mile, factory tyres. It will do that in the wet too! That is totally insane levels of performance!

You aint seen the new McLaren 720s or AMG GT-R have you, holy balls they're something else. (mind you a Lichfield gtr probably eats them for ÂŁ per BHP)

And the 5 pot Turbo's also sound lovely ..

I just don't always think more speed equates to more fun. And these days anything like an S3/R/TT gets to 80-90 mph so quickly with 4WD and those instant gear changes. Like you said too, peanuts for a map to get you a reliable 50/50+ BHP/lb-ft too.

They just don't make me smile. All I need to do for that in the Pony car is press the start button :D

Do they cost less than 50k and can easily be picked up 18 months old for around 30k.

Also AMG GT-R is slower. ;)

Bang on, used to love starting the Mustang, what a noise. Rest assured "Quiet Mode" on my MY18 won't be used, it shall be defaulted to track mode all the time. :D

Dyno video, not maximum RPM reached due to vehicle top speed limiter, so there was more on the table.

These are going to go 11s bone stock on factory tyre, very quick. Only beaten by a Golf. :D
Thanks for sharing my vid, here is another one where I rant on about the dyno numbers from American Muscle's dyno results of 437 wheel horsepower :headband:

Great video, gen3 Coyote is a true beast, I had custom PP3 on my MY15 and still the stock MY18 just shits all over it performance wise.

Like you say with the magneride option, not only is MY18 clearly faster in a straight line than a GT 350R but its also likely to hang with it in the corners too, so like you I am super impressed and excited about MY18. If when it arrives and I dislike the front-end well I cannot see that whilst driving and I can just enjoy all that extra performance and features whilst still having a totally epic car and I can tweak the front-end looks if I so wish. Making an MY15 perform like this and drive like an MY18 will probably be very hard and expensive to do, whereas the look of the MY18 is easily fixed and for many they actually love the look anyway.

but for the price of an rs3 you could buy what 3 mustangs perhaps? plus its a family hatch not a fastback so doesn't even look slightly sporty

Not round the ring ;)!

And no, didn't realise less than 50k was the category ;) I was just going on:
"But I've said this before if my own goal was real world performance I'd just buy a GTR every time, though actually I might change that, because in fact the fastest road car now you can buy is an Audi RS3 or TT RS, they will lay waste to a GTR and only stuff like a hyper car will fend them off, but apart from sounding a little better they are really still just as dull as a Golf R or S3." ;)! Which 720s is sub 3 seconds to 60, with some people claiming they've got less than 2.7 to 60, GT-R Is around that on top spec IIRC

Anyway, fruitless discussion!
