I’m storing my 2017 Mustang GT tomorrow and was curious if it’s necessary to disconnect the battery. It will stay in storage until late March early April and there’s no electricity available to me. Being that it’s a newer car I wasn’t sure if there will be an issue if it’s left disconnected for that long.

I would disconnect it to prevent corrosion and to keep anything from draining it like the Alarm and sensors and such. It won't hurt anything.

Ok, Thanks. I just didn’t want to have a problem when it gets reconnected in the Spring. I had a feeling it would be fine.

Don't lock the car with the battery disconnected! Been there, Done that! leave the hood popped so you can hook the battery back up, then unlock the car!

Disconnect and pull the battery out and take it home. Put it on a Tender in the basement or garage. Don't leave it on a concrete floor. Come spring it'll be like new.

Myself personally, I don't like leaving a car in storage. I take them out when the roads are clean, dry and salt free to excercise them. Plenty of opportunities every winter.

No electricity in the storage unit so can’t use a battery tender. Will the car start up fine once the battery is reconnected in the Spring?

I took mine out for exercise, too. And it was so sweet to be out of the winter car and back in the Stang, if for only a few miles. Nice to have a garage.

It's a gas spinning the tires at 50 mph with just a little push on the pedal.

Then pull the battery out of the car and bring it in your house. Cold weather kills batteries.

Whenever I see these posts I like to mention I had a rear main seal leak after sitting all winter. After doing some research it isnt uncommon for the main seals to shrink some but quit leaking after a few heat cycles. It was a few drips the first week then it quit. Every winter for 4 years. It could have been a bad seal but it was never more than a few drops.

This.

There are plenty of opportunities through the winter when the roads are clear and dry, and you can run them for an hour or so.

"Storing" a vehicle is silly, just drive it every now and again.
