Here's my take. Today if you want one option or another you have to buy the package and get things you don't want or need that costs dollars. That being said The manufactures should bring back the days you could buy anything you wanted from a Ragtop to a 4 door sedan and you could get any option you wanted. You could order any engine, transmission, and rear end ratio you wanted with ANY body style and trim options.( Believe me they were the days). To date I have owned 38 cars with every engine combination you could imagine. My new ordered 2018 listed out at $43,000.00 and I had to buy crap I did not want. But these are the times we live in. Maybe Ford should rethink what they offer.

even 50k is insane for a regular GT. Look for a Corvette GS, they are sitting on the lot, and you can get a 1LT GS for low 60s. :clap2:

I would wait a little more and get the 2LT GS. Has a little more features and a front facing camera for parking.
Maybe the Corvette is just to cheap in the states? Wish we had that problem. To put a new base 1LT Vette on the road here, about $140k US! RHD conversion cost accounts for about $45k in your dollars. If i could get a new RHD 1LT Vette, for say $80-90k US, i would be all over it. Our only GT model, 3/4spec hartop runs at about $48k US-52k on the road. The not so popular Ecoboost, is about $7k US cheaper. (80% GTs down here) Very affordable for AUS. That's largely why it's such a smash hit down under. Of course there is no direct comp either. No Camaro/Callenger. Wish we had your choices! Enjoy guys.:frusty:

I've been to Australia back in 08, everything there was expensive, even computer parts. Sorry Mick. It is a beautiful place though.
Maybe you should work/live in the US? My ex roommate moved to seattle and has a boyfriend from australia, but works/lives in seattle.

Lucky for us, that at least Ford is now building Mustang RHD and at realistic/ affordable price. We've been getting to the states, several times in the last few years. (back early/mid next year) Seattle, a bit nippy for us. Like many aussies, we love South Cal. Done plenty miles in good rentals. Love the attitude on your freeways. Most, seem to sit well above speed limit, no probs. We are so heavily policed, even siting 5miles up on freeway is scary for your license. I totally respect speed limits in City/town streets, as you guys seem to as well.

The automotive industry seems to be going backwards as to catering to what consumers want. Hell I can shop for groceries online and drive up and they will put them in my car. Forcing us to buy packages to get one extra is caveman. I understand it is probably cost effective but nothing more than forced add on sales.

LOLOLOLOL but hey i remember everyone swallowing the mandatory markup Track Package Option on the GT350s with a smile.

Instantly made that car like 6 or 7k more if i remember right.

Anything over 45k for a "well" optioned mag ride v8 auto mustang will be sending people in mass over to buy a damn Camaro.

Reason i didnt buy a Camaro was i couldnt find one under 45k for v8 8 speed auto.

My premium loaded 5.0 was 37k OTD including maintenance package and extended warranty to 75k miles.

Sure hope all the 2018 mustangs sell for 10k off MSRP lol.

I agree with a lot of you, that Fords pricing on the new Mustang is a little ridiculous. I can spec out a better equipped Lincoln MKZ Reserve for less than a new mustang GT

2018 Mustang GT premium, 401A, auto, performance pack, magna ride, shaker pro sound system $50,375

Lincoln MKZ Reserve, 3.0 twin turbo, all wheel drive, Drivers package, moon roof, 14 speaker Revel Audio System, multi contour front seats with Active Motion, BLIS, $49,510

Driver’s Package* combines Dynamic Torque Vectoring, a sport-tuned suspension and revised continuously controlled damping

I know the MKZ is a totally different type of car, it doesn't have the performance of the New Mustang GT, but the new 3.0 twin turbo is 400HP, it has all wheel drive, is better equipped, more luxury, plus it Holds it's value better. I know prices go up, but a Mustang shouldn't cost more than a better equipped Lincoln

Thing I hate most, I can't get the digital guage cluster with the regular GT 301A package if that was thrown in I'd be able to get a non Premium GT for ~ $42-44k which is the sweet spot for me. I don't need the leather in the premium GT and all the safety knick knacks.

Just buy 2nd hand, let someone else take the depreciation hit. Theres always a nice modded (lightly modded) 5.0 for sale with low miles.

You mean with the 300A package, right? Digital cluster is part of the 301A pack.

nope the 300A and 301A doesn't come with a digital cluster here's what it says: 300A All Mustang EcoBoost® Content, Plus: MECHANICAL • 3.55 Limited-slip Rear Axle • Engine – 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (Includes Port Fuel Direct Injection (PFDI)) • Engine Oil Cooler • Larger Brake Rotors with Four-Piston Fixed Calipers • MT82-D4 Manual Transmission {5.0L only) – Includes Dual Mass Flywheel, Twin Disc Clutch, and new Gearing EXTERIOR • 5.0L Fender Badge • “GT” Rear Appliqué Badge • Dual Exhaust with Quad Tips • LED Fog Lamps • Raised Blade Decklid Spoiler – Body-Color • Unique High Gloss Black Painted Front Grille • Unique Rear Valance INTERIOR/COMFORT • Seats, Front – Cloth Seats; 6-way Power Driver Seat w/Power Lumbar; 6-way Power Passenger Seat • "Silver Arrow" Aluminum Instrument Panel Finish SAFETY/SECURITY • Reverse Sensing System 301A Includes All 300A Features, Plus: • 9 Speaker Stereo System with Single-CD Player • Ambient Lighting with MyColor® and 4.2" Cluster • Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC) • Selectable Drive Modes with Toggle Switches • SiriusXM® Radio • SYNC®3 – Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment System • 8" LCD Capacitive Touchscreen in Center Stack • AppLink® • 911 Assist® • Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ • Smart-Charging USB ports – two (2) (None of these have the 12" digital dash cluster)
Wonder why they are making me get 301A for mag ride. Seems silly.

exactly the point of this post lol. They need to make the digital cluster, magneride and Performance Pack all separate options.
I agree with that. I can see tying mag ride to the PP, as it could be specifically configured to that suspension. I don't see requiring 301A for mag ride, nor do I see why the digital cluster is tied to any specific package.

reminds me when i bought my 2010 escape, i wanted the ability to sync to my phone at the time, but i had to buy the 'sun/sync' package which included a sun roof and roof rails....
what the heck does a sunroof have to do with talking thru your car on your phone?????
seriously people what gives?
i passed on it. i use speaker phone if i need to drive and talk....
waste of money.....
