I'd like a second camera besides the iPhone camera. Preferably mounted behind me since the iPhone will be on the windshield.

Also, pricing on Amazon appears to be all over the place, I guess depending on what's in the bundle.

If anyone has recently sorted through all the options, let me no what you decided on, or later decided you should have bought.

It would be nice to find a bundle with a good mount, and sufficient storage.

Honestly, I'd skip GoPro. They're playing some dirty games (updating firmware to block third-party batteries, making you buy their own Mic adapter and blocking all others, etc...) and look at something like the new Sony cams.

I own a Hero 5 Black, but it's the last GoPro I plan to own. Too much BS

I use a GO PRO 4 Silver with HLT. I got it from Ebay new for less then amazon. Works well but I am still trying to figure out how to get good sound.

Where are you going to mount it?

I am debating mounting behind me on the rear windshield.

I'll have to head over to the HLT page and see what other brand cameras are supported.

I was thinking that. The next group I'm running with are not as suction cup unfriendly as the last group, but it would need to be tethered. Not sure what I could tether to back there.

Examples of dash and headrest mounting. OLD original GoPro Hero HD (GoPro 1) in a broken case, so ignore the shake and the clacky noises. I just bought a GoPro Hero5 Session from Amazon for $240, which is about $40 more than it's worth, really. But it has image stabilization and I can see where it's pointed via my phone. I also ordered a generic/copy Firefly 8s camera from gearbest.com to see how that fairs. And I got a cheap used 360 camera that was rated well last year, so we'll see how that works.

I plan to mount my new GoPro facing front from the headrest area, and the old one facing backward from the same place with a dual mount. That way I can show both in video. I'll experiment with the 360 camera, too, potentially mounting it outside or instead on the headrest mount and putting the GoPro Hero5 outside.

I have the GoPro mic adapter (WTF, GoPro?) and a mic I plan to run close to the exhaust for better sound. GoPro mic sucks nuts and isn't worth chasing sound from.

I use a hero 4 black. I have a suction cup mount that can be mounted inside or out. The only problem with an inside mount is the sound on the camera doesn't pick the exhaust sound well. I use an external microphone with a GoPro mic adapter and attach it to the rear of the car.

You really don't need anything special beyond that. Just a large memory card because the files are extremely large if recording in any kind of definition.

Which external mike, my one pops horribly.

Look like your phone is doing a horribly job at image stabilization.
