In all honesty (and after some more research), I have serious reservations about the compatibility between Ford's new Port Direct Injection and any Root-Type Supercharger.

I would need to see the system but, I am under the impression both Port and Direct injectors rest in the V. Intake designs typically change once both injectors take up space under the intake.

I need a few more things before I can be certain.

There is so much Shelby everything I would welcome the Mach 1 name over the shelby

how about that 7.0 liter rumor? Stuff that new engine in the mustang, BOSS 429! or 428 Super cobra Jet Mach 1 :hail:

Naturally aspirated monster. Cooler than another supercharged engine IMO

There are rumours that the new "GT500" won't actually be called a "GT500". There have also been rumours, for a loooooong time, that the Mach 1 will be coming back, too.

What would you think if the Mach 1 was actually the new "GT500".......assuming it features a CPC 5.2 Supercharged V8?

Me? Call me greedy, but I want a n/a 5.2 CPC V8 in a Mach 1, and if the supercharged superStang isn't a GT500, then call it Cobra.......effectively a repeat of the '03/'04 Mach 1 and Terminator Cobras. That, for me, would be a fine pair.

But, if we only get one, and it's a 5.2 CPC supercharged V8 and they call it Mach 1......would that bother you?
I like the way you are thinking. I for one, think the GT500 nameplate should be retired and the Cobra nameplate should return. Going back to Cobra might even help combat ADM.

I also agree that the Mach 1 should be an inbetween model of the GT and the top of the line Mustang model.

Settle down on the "badge whore" thing guys. That was 2007 to 2009. The current Shelby GT350 is a monster.

All I have seen since 2011 to now is the GT/CS and pony appearance package for badges. Compare it to the 15 to 20 badge mustangs in 2007 to 2009. Even King of the Road was a badge car. But, it has kept its value. A few badge mustangs have held up in value.

It doesn't matter what Ford calls it. There will be an ADM as long as it is limited. The only way to truly combat AMDs are availability. Dealers don't want that because they like ADMs and customers want "limited" models. So I'm sure it will be the same game until Ford builds as many that are ordered.

Both would be way out of my price range but I still have an opinion on the matter..

Me personally, I really wish Ford would leave the Shelby name/affiliation behind.. I like the S197 GT500's.. all of them. I also love the S550 GT350.. and hell, who doesn't love Eleanor?

That being said, EVERYTHING Shelby is overpriced. The GT350 is an amazing car at it's MSRP price point but because it's a Shelby in the Shelby registry it has ridiculous mark ups. I would rather see Ford put out the same vehicle and call it an SVT Cobra or even a Mustang ST..

If you ask me what should a Mach 1 S550 be, I'd say the same GT platform but with the Voodoo engine. What should this new rumored GT500 be? I'd say a street legal 1,000hp Cobra Jet and they should call it the T1000.. Lol.

While true, Chevy dealers seem to be able to sell ZL1's with no ADM, hell local dealer by me is discounting them. IIRC ZL1 production was very similar to GT500 wasn't it? Local Dodge dealer is discounting Hellcats,

Reminds me of those commercials "Why not both?"

Mach 1 is a supercharged 5.0 with 2018 Performance package 2, keep it around 50-55k

Already have the GT350 for track duty, mach 1 can be the straight line killer.

GT500 with a supercharged VooDoo and all out performance goodies to knock the pants off the ZL1, they can price it up towards 90-100k and make it a limited run.

I don't care much what they call them. I care about performance, cost, and availability.

Want to rename the GT350 the Oscar Myer Wiener Mobile? Make as many as people will buy (so no ADM) and I'll happily pay $50K for one.

I have always though Mustang Cobra and Cobra Jet were dumb names. WTF is a "Cobra Jet"? How do you get a horse-snake?

But from a marketing standpoint I would expect you can get more money for a Shelby, then a Boss, then maybe a Cobra, with Mach 1's being not a lot better than Track Pack or Performance Pack.
