Are there any options available for a different emergency/hand brake? I hate the way it looks and feels. Seems too big and awkward and feels cheap and doesn't feel like it stays Althea way down when disengaged... I almost would have preferred an electronic push button brake that's small and discreet.

A small annoyance, but always seems to bug me for some reason.

My complain is it's in a very awkward place.
I loved the handbrake location on my RX-8. Very nice place to rest your hand when you are not shifting.
Although it is possible that the RX-8 was designed to be driven on the right hand side that's why the hand brake was on the right hand side.

It's a different car dude. Stop fretting that it's not like your RX-8, you'll get used to it.

Just hoping the next Mustang would make it more natural to use.
Vipers have the hand brake in the correct place though.

I don't think it's that bad but haven't paid that much attention to it. My only issue is as you said it doesn't always seem like it's fully released. Many times after starting it and dropping the e-brake I have to double check that it's all the way down lol.

Make sure your boot is not bunched up in there.
I find from the factory the boot is bunched up at the base of the hand brake. I just push my finger down making sure they are all the way down.

They should follow suit with a push button e-brake.
WHAT???????

Oh hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll no!!!

Electric/push-button e-brakes are the work of Satan. They're completely and utterly ghey.

There is an adjustment of the e-brake cables beneath the body above the factory exhaust resonator location that can fix this.

Nah you want the hand brake to initiate drift.:headbang:
I'm guessing someone out there in this great big world has tried drifting with a push button?
