Hi All. I've got a V6 Mustang and looking for some cheap suspension mods to tide me over until I save up for a more "serious" handling package. I'm to pick up some PP sway bars since they're so cheap.

I've got the rear sway bar and bushings in my cart, no problem there. However I'm confused on whether the front sway bars are different. There are two part numbers listed, FR3Z-5482-A (without PP) and FR3Z-5482-B (with PP). However there is only one bushing listed (FR3Z-5484-A) which leads me to believe that both bars are the same size. If they're they same size what's the difference? Maybe hollow vs solid?

In all my research on PP suspension the only difference I've seen is that the rear bar is smaller, with no reference to the front. Is it worth $60 to upgrade the front?

Thanks!

*Edit - this has morphed more into a discussion about 350R bars so I updated the title*

From what I've read the PP bar has the bushing glued to it and you don't want it as it isn't bigger than your stock V6 bar. The GT350 front bar is the one you want or do the "free" swaybar mod" if you don't mind drilling. Currently I have the free swaybar mod on front and I'll probably go to the GT350 front swaybar next as an upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. I never even looked at the GT350 bars. May just have to do those instead.

This is correct. The GT and V6 have the same front bar and the GT PP gets a "sticky" bushing glued to it, along with the brackets that are quite a bit stiffer than the non-PP ones. I would not say it's worth the upgrade new, but take-off cheap, possibly. The GT350 bars would be a nice upgrade if you didn't want to go as stiff as the ones from BMR, Steeda, Eibach, etc.

Yea I definitely think I'll go with the GT 350, or 350R bars. There are different part numbers for each. Is there anywhere we can get dimensions for the 350/350R Sway bars? I did a google search and didn't see much.

Its a bit confusing looking at all the sway bar options. But think I'll go with these
Rear: FR3Z-5A772-G (MUSTANG; STANDARD; 5.2L; W/O MAGNARIDE)
Front: FR3Z-5482-B (MUSTANG; PERF. PKG, TRACK II PKG.)

That sound right? These are the ones listed under the 2016 350 and 350R. I didn't find a W or W/O MAGNARIDE option for the front.

Need to bring in Rebellion to confirm, he has the GT350R rear bar.

5482-B is the GT PP bar.

Bmac,
Would you say it is a good idea to upgrade the PP bar since it uses the mounts attached with adhesive? Do you also agree that the movement in that part is necessary? What are your thoughts here?

The bushings being constrained to the bar was purely done for on-center steering feel - that is straight from Ford vehicle dynamics engineer. The bracket being much more solid would be the only reason to upgrade, but the bar is identical, so the change in roll stiffness will be almost imperceptible, if at all. Given the work to change the bar, I would not do it unless I were getting a significant benefit in stiffness.

this is helpful, thanks! I found what I think is a 350R supplement to the normal owners manual here. (pg 12)
http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...350-Supplement-version-1_su_EN-US_07_2015.pdf

Based on this, the rear 350 sway bar has the same 22.2mm diameter as the GT. Front is a little bigger than the GT at 34mm vs 32mm.

So I guess I'm left with two questions...
1) why get the 350R rear sway bar if its the same size as the GT?
2) anyone know what the part number is for the 350R front bar? I can't find it on the Ford OEM Parts websites so far.

The 350R rear bar is 23.6 mm. Confirmed. Hey Voodooo do you have more details?

I still haven't had any luck finding part numbers for the GT350 front sway bar. Even tried plugging in the VIN for a 2016 GT350 on parts website but no luck.

Can anyone out there confirm part numbers for GT350 front and rear sway bars?

Thanks!

FR3Z-5A772-E is the actual bar (which, correction, is 23.6 mm, not 24.6 mm), F2GZ-5493-C is the bushing. Still not clear on front bar/bushings, but you can get away with more in the front so at that point I'd look at something from BMR or Steeda.

Cool, thanks! I'd still like to try and find the OE front bar, since that will probably be quite a bit cheaper than an aftermarket one. Maybe I'll try calling the dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

Think I found it! I reached out to Tasca Parts who seem to have some of the best prices on OE parts. They say the front 350R sway bar is part #FR3Z-5482-J and say there are no separate bushings; the bar bolts directly to the car like the PP sway bar.

So, it looks these are the parts needed to swap in GT350 sways:
FR3Z-5482-J - Front sway bar
FR3Z-5A772-E - Rear sway bar
F2GZ-5493-C - Rear sway bar bushings
