I'm surprised at how rare manuals on the GTs. I always thought it would be much higher than autos.

Numbers don't lie. Auto sell and are better. It's the old school I need to drive a stick and feel my car people that keep it alive. The faster stangs are auto since you can't beat a computer. Only a matter of time till there gone.

And there are plenty of us that really don't care about being a few tenths faster. I understand why the majority buys Autos, even though I wouldn't. It's not old school. It's about fun.

Autos are plenty old school. Go lookup any add on craigslist for a classic pony or muscle car and you'll find a majority are of the auto variety.

Pretty easy to beat a computer that doesn't know what hill or turn is in front of it.

The transition to "paddles" has been fun for me as I've owned a 5 speed Celica and got tired of rowing the gears. Each to his own as to preference, MT or AT. The 6R80 is a nice auto w/paddles to enjoy. Thanks to the OP for posting these stats.

Thanks for posting this OP!

One of the thoughts I has was how numbers can be misleading sometimes,

This is production numbers and not sales numbers so if you build 10k manuals the most you can sell is.... wait, the math is complicated....carry the one........

10k manuals!

Same goes for engines, trims etc. but eventually every car is sold to someone somewhere, even if it's to be scrapped. GM will probably be doing fire sales on 2017 Camaros soon.

These are the numbers for a first year car and as such the large numbers of GTs make sense. Ford will be looking at how long a car sat on the lots, how many they sold at full price and how many sat around and were sold at discounts when the new model year production begins.

What will be telling will be 2017 production numbers after collecting the data for three sales years.

The numbers of V6s produced is surprising considering that on military bases in Europe they are just about as rare as GT350s.
As I said before, every car is eventually 'sold' and I'm guessing most V6s sat on lots until the price became irresistible and was sold at a loss. One of the '15 V6s at MAS at the base in Wiesbaden was still there until at least October last year.

TLDR: Production numbers are not take rates, First year production numbers are a guess by a manufacturer, Final year (ala 2017) will be closer

Do these numbers include export numbers. Currently about 10500 mustangs in Australia

I wonder how many 2015s went to rental fleets such as Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, etc? Additionally, most of those fleets would have gotten autos instead of manuals. However, those that also provide premium rentals no doubt got a few manuals. I would be willing to bet many of the V6 versions went to them to keep their costs down and profits up. As someone already said, all 2015s should be sold by now and therefore these also probably represent sales numbers as well.

Well if you believe Camaro6, it's almost all of them!

They look at fords 30% fleet sales and think that means Mustangs!
I seriously doubt rental companies buy over 30,000 mustangs a year. They wouldn't meed any Focuses, Fiestas or Fusions which is mostly what I see when I go rent a car and only a handful of Mustangs.

Just doing some cursory checking, that number (30,000) may seem high, but possibly not far off. The reason is, fleets sell their vehicles as soon as they reach a certain number of miles to reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, they have to replace those destroyed by customers. For example, the Budget office at Orlando has 54 2016 Mustangs for sale right now and the office in Baltimore already has 5 2017s for sale. The Orlando rental office may have as many as 150 Mustangs in their inventory at any one time. Extrapolate to all rental office from all companies across all 50 states and US territories and get a lot of fleet Mustang sales by Ford. In other words, rental Mustang inventories are very fluid. You would need to be able to check each fleet customer's total Mustang purchase by year or get that info from Ford in detail. Just an Arsenio Hall moment....makes you go hmmmmmmmmm.

Interesting thread, not sure how I missed it.

I would have guessed production numbers for a manual GT to be higher. Says a lot for the take rate of manuals. :( It really makes me wonder now how many '15s are out there that were equipped like mine (or even '16s and '17s)...
