Basically stock as in no billet gears?

Not trying to open up a can here. I just paused yet again in a Whipple purchase as I really don't want my motor opened up.[/QUOTE Doesn't really matter which power adder you choose, you can break the stock oil pump gears with any power adder.

I agree with you, except that how many boosted setups do you see sticking around 600whp? Most people are well over 700, and I would venture to bet there are a LOT of cars out there that never hit the dyno and have no idea what power they are pushing.

It is not a threat. It is a real problem. I know what you are saying some shops use it as an easy money maker. Shops do not need to do this there are so many ways to make $$ with customers than scare tactics. But I did mine as well as ATI Super Damper. Read this thread and I bet you will install them. im sitting at 590whp be here until i address my traction and suspension issues. but ya i plan on cranking it up to the 700whp point then sure ill probably do them due to all the fear mongering lol.

Do it or don't no one really cares it's your car and your money, my advise is learn from other people's advise and documented failures.

I for one think it is good that people are sharing their own misfortune to help others avoid the issue. Good luck with whatever you choose.

There may be cases that we don't hear about as not everyone is a forum member and some may just simply fix the issue and move on.

i agree but we have had polls already and its not as common as people would have you believe. sure at some point for insurance put them in. peace of mind even but like i said a conservative tune sitting around 600whp and not revving over 7k odds are youre good

Exactly. Not everything about our car is in this forum. You can do a poll everyday and when your oil pump gears fail don't come in here crying. I posted a very good read actually a link from L&M for him to read it seems he is not interested. You can lead a donkey to water but you cannot force him to drink it. And if Angry is tuned Ford will tell him the repair is on him.

I have never been able to get the Lund folks on the phone or email to answer this. Approximately what does it cost to purchase a tune to replace the existing Whipple tune????
I do agree the phone is never answered, but with the employee to customer ratio that's impossible I assure you. Honestly I wish they would setup a community forum where people can ask questions with out having to open tickets for every thing. It would reduce the amount of redundancy in tickets and help their workload.

On another not Jon II responds to my tickets (email) within minutes, so I'd consider them extremely responsive. I just feel bad when I open a ticket for a small question.

not tuned, stock other than wheels and shifter soon. i love how im a donkey thought because of the out of the numerous boosted cars with stock OPG running fine for thousands of miles and how ever many factory roush cars and no issues reported but 1 or 2 people report theirs breaking for unknown reasons. i even hear different theories on why they break. from what i have seen there isnt a real authority on this. i mean when people are in the mid 9s on stock gears it gives me some confidence in them. i do agree if you have the extra money it isnt a bad idea but for people to say you have to or they will fail is bogus.
