Dude....the looks are 90% the same. Very little has changed. Only Mustang enthusiasts would be able to tell a '18 from a 14-17 car. Minor revisions to the front and rear ends that are hardly noticeable, and an ugly rear spoiler.

That's it.
the lower front is an improvement however they then killed it with the lower portion and turned it into a camaro.

Exactly!
The full point in compression and slightly larger valves along with pi/di will probably add 30-40hp tops. My guess is from 435hp on the current 5.0 to 465-470 on the new. Even at that, it's a stretch because they are conservative. I'm interested in how much weight difference the new refresh is. I know it's cosmetic, but they also added some more options. I really wish ford would scale down the mustang 7/8 and loose 200 pounds or more.
Heck, people are still speculating the next one will be codenamed "S650" when we just went from S197 to S550. I'm going to guess S747.

Typically, a 1-point bump in compression is good for a 2-3% power bump, with all else internal to an engine remaining the same. It's sort of a rule of thumb to some degree in the engine building world.

So maybe the DI/PI change will net a few more, but I think a lot of folks here are being wildly optimistic.

Personally, I have my doubts that the power output will exceed 455-465 HP. Ford still has CAFE/EPA to appease, plus have room to grow later.
PI/DI is what will allow the Coyote to run on 87 Octane at 12:1 compression. It's all part of the same modification. 87 Octane at 11:1 was on the ragged edge of acceptable with PI only. Hot valves, carbon embers... have to avoid secondary ignition from the flame front.

The look is growing on me, but I can't seem to get over the hood.

I'm loving all the goodies they're adding, but I might pass this gen up for a slightly used C7 vet. Or just wait until I see what the S650 offers.

Agreed, but you might have missed my point....

Which, in a nutshell, was that PI/DI and what it all brings to the table isn't going to result in the dramatic HP bump some think is coming.

Ah I thought you meant the 12:1 and PI/DI were separate power bumps.

The PI\DI combo is great though. Not going to see the buildup like a pure DI engine will get. The PI will clean off the heads while still getting benefits of DI.

We don't know if PI/DI and higher compression were the only changes made to the Coyote. They could also have modified the cams to maximize the new injection system, along with the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, etc.

We need to wait to see what the full technical details on the new Coyote is before making a real, educated guess.

Didn't Ford say that only the Crankshaft carried over from the previous motor?

My guess

Low of 455HP and a max of 470HP with 7400rpm limit. They seemed more excited about the torque increases, so am guessing a low of 420lb/ft and high of 455lb/ft.

Even the low numbers are a nice increase considering the improved economy it also brings. :)

This Canadian Ford video was previously posted. But if you look carefully, you'll see the standard spoiler is the same on both cars. [ame=""]
