The frpp tune and intake will be here tomorrow for the woman's

Heading to the 1/4 mile tomorrow to get some baseline runs in and having the tune and intake installed Saturday at the Ford dealer.

Won't be able to get back to the track until the 18th though. The 9th is world street nationals. Mayyyyyy be able to go back this Sunday for Funday Sunday, but I'm not counting on it.

Edit: I'm an idiot and was looking at the November schedule. We will be going this Friday, the 2nd, for baseline testing. We will then return on December 16th for the tuned runs. This Sunday is world compact finals so we cannot run that day.

Hi all, this is my first time posting.
I had the FP tune installed a couple off weeks ago and it took a good 30 miles before it kicked in. The car pulls right up to red line now with a lot more torque everywhere, to me it's like a new car, combined with the performance package this little Ecoboost turned out to be a pretty fast little car. Very happy with the tune.
Beware most dealers have no clue on how to install the tune

Dave
So how did you have yours installed?

What people are talking about with the 30 miles for the tune to kick in isn't an exact and it's not like at 31 miles it will transform. You should probably feel 90% of it right away, the rest is the normal learning the ECU does any time you reset. These are things like the fuel trims, tables that will adjust to your gas, altitude and your driving. That is all normal and no different than without the new tune.

Thats probably what it was originally referred to. Yeah its not like the car goes from no tune to tune in 30 miles, its just a break in/training period for the ECU. I felt it right away. I have yet to get a good launch because I cant get and traction now. Shows how crap the P-zeroes are.

I figured that's what was meant, just explaining it for some. Well at least you're in the Bay Area, weather isn't as cold there. My car is a 15 and by this time last year I found out what you mean about how bad those tires are in the cold. Those stock summer only tires that come on the EB PP were like ice skates. I was sliding around on dry roads just trying to get going from a light, especially around a turn.

I got rid of those for a set of Conti DWS 06 A/S and they were MUCH better! I thought I was giving something up when it got warm again but was surprised to find out the Contis were even better in warm weather.

My car was running worse after the FP tune, was planning on going back to the dealer the next day. After about 30 minutes it just kicked in, runs great now. No clue why.
The dealer took 5 hrs to install, thought I was going to lose my mind.
Two hrs because the pro cal device had a flaw and didn't plug unto the car correctly, They were on the phone with ford performance the whole time.
The rest of the time was spent trying to download drivers and the program to run the tune, thought i was going to lose my mind.
These guys can turn wrenches but they couldn't turn on computer.
In the end they only charged me for a couple of hrs so I cant complain.:headbonk:

How many miles do u have on them? I need some tires soon. Was debating between the Toyo proxes 4 plus and the nitto motivos. I started a thread in the Wheels and tires section about this.

WORD OF ADVICE TO ALL: INSTALL THE PROCAL SOFTWARE ON A LAPTOP PRIOR TO BRINGING IT IN SO ALL U HAVE TO DO IS PLUG IT INTO THE CAR.

Some places might not be as nice and will charge for the downloading time (which takes about 45-60 minutes for the drivers/software)

Had mine installed today....

So far driven around 30 miles.

Great:

- Auto transmission calibration... I can tell the difference. Car feels much smoother.

Good:

- Starting to slowly "feel" the additional power. Yes, it takes it a while to catch on. Not sure I felt maybe 60% of the power when I first left the dealer... it was strange.

- Chirped in second a couple of times now (after driving at least 20 miles). And I'm taking it easy... I have all season tires.

- Driving is so much better now!

- Car does not sound like it is dying when you give it gas... like it did on the base tune.

- Give it gas and it moves.

Thoughts:

- I don't like how the CAI looks. It looks silly. Oh, cool, I have a Mustang GT90000 CAI in my car.. how cool am I? Uh, no. I won't remove it though...

- Car is louder when you get on it. When you give it a ton of gas, it sounds like a turbo! when you are driving normal, it sounds stock.

- Only took my dealer an hour and some change to do it. At least setup your FP account before going to the dealer. Provide the dealer with the username and password (reset the password after the install). Not sure you want to download the software though... seems they had an issue with someone doing just that, and it took several hours to work through it.

- If I were getting any 3rd party tune, I'd get a transmission tune as well... and hope they can be good as Ford Performance.

- This tune should be free or offered around $150, dealer labor only. It is how the car should be...

- I will drive it around and let the tune settle in before doing a 0-60... maybe do that this weekend. I'd be surprised if this FP tune beat unleashed or even matched it. I'm hoping for a 0-60 in 5.6 or maybe 5.5... I'd be happy with that.

Unleashed vs. this tune:

The Ford tune is a punch in the back. It is much smoother... the auto transmission calibration smoothed things out.

Unleashed is a punch in the back along with ruptured kidney. Unleashed put a lot more grins on my face. Maybe FP tune will catch up once it is settled in. Unleashed seemed to pull harder right after install... no waiting 30 miles.

Final thoughts (for now):

This tune is for those who 1. want to keep their warranty 2. people who want a little more power, not a race car and 3. those who trust Ford Performance over another 3rd party tuner.

This is a nice tune... even if on the expensive side.

I am happy for the most part.

There is no difference in the time it takes a tune from one place to another to take effect. As I mentioned, the only thing that changes is the ECU learning adjustable tables. That happens any time you load a tune or even reset by disconnecting the battery for a while. If you aren't feeling a lot of difference right away, you're not going to feel it later.

The whole thing about registering on the Ford racing site, is there instructions on how to do so inside the box?

If not, can someone please explain.

My experience with this tune is that it took some time to adjust... not sure if it will adjust further, as I stated. I definitely did not drive off the dealer lot with it feeling 90% of what it did after 20 miles on it.

Maybe someone else will experience something different.

Once you get the tune, you can let us know your experience...
