With the LMR dyno showing considerable gains across the board, and the various deals going out on it, is the new Power Pack 2 the best deal out there for a budget pick me up for our cars? Or, is it just that the respectable gains, plus warrant coverage make it the best bet? Id be interested in hearing other opinions for that $600-$700 range for performance bolt ons.

No. It's a bang for "keeping the warranty". Palm Beach Dyno is where I'd be going if I didn't have warranty fears.

Being that it costs $900 for a remote tune, not really seeing how Palm Beach Dyno is a better deal when you're getting nothing but a tune.

To keep the warranty, you have to have it installed by at least an ASE mechanic, if not your dealer. There's $300 right there according to my quotes.

Aftermarket tune:
- In the case of Palm Beach, arguably one of the best tuners for the Coyote engine out there
- Flexibility to put the tune on or take it off or have multiple tunes, if needed
- You get a tuning device that is capable of reading codes and showing you run figures real-time and data logging to make enhancements specific to your engine
- Your choice of air intake, headers, supercharger, manifold, injectors, yada yada
- Easy to get upgrades tuned for; can't upgrade anything with the FP kit

None of the above I need, personally, which is why I'm getting the FP Stage 2 and just sucking it up and having the dealer install it.

That's all well and good. However, he gave you a price point, so you've got the $900 Tune and SCT Tuner, and then you'd have to shell out more money for the Intake and Throttle body. I just disagree that it's a better option for the same price. If you're willing to spend more, dyno tuning or a solid remote tuning session for existing bolt-ons is obviously superior.

All good points. Yes, I am trying to stay fairly close to the price point. I was shocked as hell when my wife allowed me to drop $700 to redo my stereo (which was waaaay worth it for my commute). Id prefer not to drop an additional $300 for the ASE install, but if Im loosing warranty either way, would it be better to go Lund and intake($750ish?) and do it myself?

Throttle body isn't necessary to achieve similar/better numbers. Intake, yes. My point is, from Lund/Livernois/Palm Beach, if you don't care about warranty, the value of flexibility of choosing your package and having support for subsequent upgrades, which many do, outweighs a lower initial entry cost. Especially when factoring in that you have to have this professionally installed to reap its premier benefit (beyond added power): the warranty guarantee.

Moving on...

Most of the tunes you will find for a stock Mustang are pretty safe from what I've read and haven't had a problem with any of my tunes (Bama or Lund). I think it's not worth it because pretty soon you'll be out of the warranty period anyway and the chances are low that any engine problems will occur.

Installing an intake and tune is pretty easy. If I can do it without any prior experience working on cars, you should be able to as well.

After seeing the LMR results, I too was pretty interested in the PP2. However, I just clocked 30,000 miles so the warranty period is closing quickly. At this point, I think I'm just going to end up going aftermarket with Lund or one of the other proven tuners. I already have a Steeda CAI (currently with the restrictor for a "no tune" setup). I can just flash a tune, pull the restrictor, and be on my way.

All of that said, if this had come out earlier, I would definitely consider it. It's just that I'm now realizing that the big tuners on here have a pretty well proven track record to the point that I wouldn't even necessarily worry about voiding my warranty with one of their tunes.

You keep your factory warranty no matter what, as long as the FRPP kit doesn't cause a failure. Just like any aftermarket parts.

You only get the FRPP warranty on the new stuff if it's ASE installed, and that warranty starts on the day/mileage you took delivery of your vehicle.

If you don't have a CAI already, I would think it's a pretty good deal, and it has a CARB EO# for those of us in CA.

Don't forget, factory powertrain is 5/60k, not 3/36k. But if you're referring to the FRPP warranty, then yes, that is 3/36k.

$600 for 25 whp which comes with tune, throttle body and cai. Pretty good imo. Cai, tuner, tune already costs $900. And from the dynos I've seen so far, performance is similar. Not including e85 which adds another 10 whp but that's also another $150 option.

In the mid zone (around 4500-5000 rpm) it was nearly 50whp if I remember correctly. I considered the e85 route, but the extra tuning cost, plus the potential of new injectors pushed it too far out of reach.

We don't have much E85 out here in CA.
