Hi, I tried today every possible way to get my 1/2 shafts out without success. I was able to get them out many times on my 2015 manual car but they WILL NOT budge on my 2017 manual.

Big pry bar, bigger pry bar, massive pry bar no luck. I am at a loss here. I think they are staying in and if they break it'll go to the shop to get new ones installed. Gonna take the risk that I won't need them I guess. Being an automatic and not dragging it I'm thinking ill be fine.

If your not drag racing you will be fine, save your money and keep the weight down with those stock skinny shafts. :)

Kinda what I've been feeling all along but the car has made the decision for me lol. I have the 1/2 shafts already, they are pretty much brand new (were in my last car) Ford Racing axles. Looks like they will be up for sale pretty shortly.

Let me know when you wanna get rid of those, I'm interested!

To get them out, use two pry bars at the same time opposite of each other. I had similar hell when I only used one pry bar, but when I used two, it distributed the force more evenly and the halfshaft popped out easily.

Thanks for your advice but I still couldn't get either one out so I put everything back and will sell my Ford Racing shafts. I was on the fence about them anyway lol

I had one axle that was a real bear to get out. I did use the 2 pry bar method and it did pop out, but I ended up screwing up the seal that is in the differential housing. :(

Yup, definitely a common complication to that method. Screw it, if they break I'll have a shop replace them but I'm betting on them not breaking the way I drive my car and it now being an automatic

After many years in the business and seeing the same problem take an air hammer with a very dull bit and use it on the inner half of cv joint. It will pop out pretty easily.

I would sell them; you're not going to break them in an A6 car.

I can't see breaking them unless someone is pushing 750+ RWHP with a high stall converter and drag radials; even then maybe?

Yes, this is the route I have decided to go. My car is all back together in the rear and I will be listing the axles for sale shortly. Thank you everyone for your help/advice. If they break, and for me thats a big if, I will use an air chisel to get them out and replace them. This was good information thank you.
