Digging into the engine could cause a warranty problem. If this sort of failure happens with any sort of frequency, Ford may offer to upgrade the gear under warranty.

I don't buy cars and worry about any kind of warranty. I do all of my own service and repairs. My warranty was voided days after I took it out of the dealer.

I wish I was in that position. I can't afford to shell out $22k~ and wait around for a new engine to arrive from Ford, all the while paying for my own rental car.

I drove my 1991 Miata with over 150k miles on its original engine today while my 2016 GT350 spends it's 28th consecutive day in for service.

That really sucks.... especially while you make that GT350 payment which I imagine is not a small figure.

You need a bumper sticker that says, "My other car is a GT350, but it's in the shop"

You also leave out a critical piece of info that that is your profession. Big difference to many people out there.

I financed 2/3 of the GT350 and have made 1 payment so far on it while not being able to drive it. This doesn't bother me too much because I don't consider it to be Ford's problem that I financed the car, that's my own choice or financial deficiency. What does bother me is I no longer feel the same way towards the car, and I want to get rid of it, and in doing so I'll realize a 10-15k loss (thank god I only paid 1.5k ADM!), and Ford doesn't care - there's nothing they will do about it. I'm slowly convincing myself that this is the gamble I made buying a performance car, let alone a "first year" car with a unique engine (to the brand building it at least), and buying an expensive car from a cheap car manufacturer. I'm just one of the unlucky ones this time, hopefully I've paid my dues and won't deal with this again with any future car. A small comfort I have is this: at least I'm not buying a 400k+ Ford GT! I can't imagine going through a similar problem on that car with this brand!!!!

I'd still recommend keeping it. I think you'll gain confidence in it again over time. But of course the decision ultimately is yours.

A friend of mine bought one of the first C6 Z06's in town and he never told me what he paid but he said it had a sizeable ADM on it. He paid it off a few years ago and I remember him breathing this huge sigh of relief and saying "it's like I got a $1300 a month raise. Now that was like my house payment at the time.

I completely sympathize for the obvious reason but I would also keep the car Kyle. Once the problem has been ironed out and you enjoy the car again, you will remember why you bought the car in the first place.

Ya, Porsches and Ferraris never break down. Some cars break down, this was unfortunate (as you said). But to think if you go buy another vehicle you'll be problem free is like hoping I'll see a flock of Unicorns on the way home.

Obviously, it's nothing you did to the car, but to get comperable performance, go buy the 1st place Motor Trend car of the year, McLaren. The engine should be fine, but again, it could break too. Like I'm not trying to pick upset you or anything. It just seems like you have this preconceived idea that Ford is a "cheap" car manufacturer, and they are in relation to what this car would cost coming out of Italy, but all cars have their problems.

As others have said, it's your choice, and it's quite clear what you're gonna do.

I don't think Kyle feels that way. I truly understand and I am sure many on this forum feel the same way about doing their own work and never having to go to the dealer. First, the car no longer will have the engine to match the car vin wise, that bothers me. 2nd, I am not doing the work, that bothers me. Dealer maintenance is notorious for shady work. I have had many a bad experience. 3rd, I have been without my car 43 days and counting, that bothers me. And finally, I bought a car assembled at the factory. Now I have a car that will have been massaged by the dealer. I've replaced many engines and many of the clips and ties break. How many get replaced? Ultimately it will depend on the quality of work from the tech doing the swap. That's why I met with my tech and explained to him what I will be looking for after the install. If I get my car back and I am not satisfied with the install, I will raise hell and if at the end I am not happy, I too will sell the car. It comes down to control. I have no control over the quality and effort put in by the tech and the shop. THAT! BOTHERS ME!

Thanks Harold, I completely agree with what you said. All of my stress over the car comes down to that. It's easy for others, and Ford, to just say "well that's why there's a warranty". It's peace of mind until you're without your car for a month (or more) and it's been fiddled with once you get it back. I could get it back and it's perfect, until I get in line to take it back for the recall Q1 2017 and/or the next issue.

I'm not sure, I doubt it. From what I understood, if that crimp/line fails, you have a massive oil leak. I had no oil leak, the engine oil level is right where it was before the "event". My only symptom is 0 psi engine oil pressure. It happened suddenly while the car was at operating temperature and running great right before.

My only symptom is 0 psi engine oil pressure. It happened suddenly while the car was at operating temperature and running great right before.

0 oil psi mean bad pump. This won't be the first oil pump failure. I still can't understand why ford didn't make the OPG on the voodoo from steel. The harmonics and vibrations will cause them to fail.
