Kairojya, I feel bad for your situation. It is really concerning that so many people are having engine troubles. I think when you get the car back you should drive it like you stole it and keep the RPM's above 7,000 as much as possible once it's broken in, why not? It's still under warranty, right? This car should be indestructible for the price and how it has been advertised. Unfortunately I probably will not keep this car beyond its warranty period as it is too risky... My personal opinion is this car will be worth nothing in the future once it's out of warranty, wish it wasn't that way, I love it so far.

We'll see. I would be pretty nervous running the car outside of warranty. I imagine in 5~ years buying a new $20k engine would be 50% or more of the value of the car. I'm not sure if you'd be able to go to an engine builder and have them rebuild this engine, if salvageable? The extended warranty is worth it to me for peace of mind, and I don't have the balls to modify this car currently such that I'd risk the powertrain warranty. Besides I think the car is pretty balanced for the performance I'm looking for, at least when it's working :frusty:!

Also I haven't heard of more than 10 people with engine problems, so it's still a small percent of owners (less than 0.1% I would say). If only I had this kind of good luck for once!

OPG and C/S would be my main concern, at least after the warranty is up. Anyone want to speculate whether the GT350 has the same OPG as the GT? MMR is advertising billet gears for GT / GT350. If GT350 already came with billet gears, that would seem unnecessary.

Earlier in this thread a few people discussed your OPG question. It's believed by many, including a Ford Performance hotline tech I spoke with, that the OPG is the same as the GT. That tech told me that the Coyote engine runs pretty high oil pressures too, and that neither it or the GT350 have a billet OPG (but FP crate engines typically do). The FP tech told me it's highly unlikely for the oil pump / OPG to fail in a factory Voodoo engine, even if I was really beating on the car. Myself, and other owners who encountered this problem, must have defective parts. In other words, FP doesn't believe there's any design deficiency with the Voodoo's oil pump.

Highly unlikely but not zero, as evidenced by this thread.

Parts break but this is a stupid part to break and it results in a very expensive repair, at least for those that are out of power train warranty.

OPG is a popular topic in the FI section and generates debate. An oil pump failure is a low probability event even with FI but most of those guys are running without a power train warranty so a lot of them are digging into their engines to install the billet gears.

Update

My replacement engine arrived at the dealership servicing my car late Friday. They plan to have the engine swap complete by the time I get back into town next week. After the engine swap is successful, they're going to look at my rear bumper fitment (as per my complaint) and look into doing the cooled seats TSB.

That's great news! Relax and focus on your wedding and when you return maybe you can still enjoy some good driving weather for the new break in. I think the shutdown had a positive affect on the engine back log. I was given and end of the week shipment on my motor. Well ahead of schedule.

Congrats and I'm jealous. It's been two weeks and Ford can't even tell me yet if I'm getting a new engine for sure much less a timeline on when it will be completed. Which, really sucks because it will almost for surely be done in the middle of winter. So I'll have to figure out how to get it home from the dealer. I'm not buying winters for it as I do not plan on driving it in the snow ever, if I can help it.

With Zitrosounds and me getting our engines already, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get one? Did your dealer put it in as a priority order (there's some terminology for it)? If not I would call Ford Service and open a case with your local rep and get them involved.

Thanks! I called my service advisor and told him to remind the tech of this. The advisor told me that I'm too paranoid and I should calm down ... :doh:. Oh well, I told them. If they screw it up, it just means more time without my car!

And if you have, If the tech makes the determination with Ford that it is some sort of internal failure, I do not see the issue. Sucks man! I don't think me and Kyle are in the clear just yet. There is still some contention. For example possible shipping damage, installation damage, having all the parts needed prior to install, etc. I am not being pessimistic just realistic. Crossing my fingers!!!

Totally agree! I told my service advisor to make sure the tech(s) check over the new engine thoroughly. I worried a bit that the engine may have been hastily assembled, and of course could be damaged during shipping too. It's out of my hands now, I wish I was in town to go look over the engine myself. Hell, if I could, I'd be involved in the entire engine swap. If I had the time, and the dealer let me. I like tinkering, and would be way more comfy babysitting the car too.

I have involved Ford and have a Case# with them. My frustration is that Ford won't even give my dealer a decision on whether I'm getting a new engine or not.

Plus, they want to give me my car back while they decide what to do. I don't know if I want them to do that or not based on a few things. I'm going to talk to them again today and get all of the information that is available to me and start making more noise with Ford. I've been very patient and my dealer has been great, but the silence from Ford on the issue after two weeks is getting old.
