Thanks for telling us Kyle. Good luck, hope you have a quick fix.
Shawn, appreciate you posting your picks here.....
Your welcome, but I hate to bring bad news like this. To the OP did you change anything on the motor at all?

Production Date & Track Pack?

Could you list the Production date of your car? And anyone else with this Problem list a PD? Would like to see if there is an identifiable link? Also list if cars are with or without Track pack?

My 2016 Track Pack is being delivered to me 1 week from today, the 50th Anniversary of my first new car a 1966 Mustang. Bucket List item, want to do everything possible to make it last while enjoying this amazing machine.

Anyone know of upgraded oil pumps available to avoid this issue, first mod i will consider?

Sounds like you maintain and drive your car carefully as I will. Great job of being aware and shutting down ASAP, Good Luck with it.

Thanks for any additional info on this type of failure from you & forum members.

My car has a completely stock drivetrain, though I have a replacement OEM driver side axle due to the outer CV boot failing in the first 200 miles of me driving the car.

Most of my miles are weekend country winding road miles. I'm not out there killing it, I've never seen engine oil temps over 230 even driving in 105F ambient. I've done a lot of WOT pulls, up to 140mph, I always wait for engine oil temps above 190 before any spirited driving or acceleration.

Ford should take care of you then unlike myself my warranty was void with the Whipple install and calibration reflash. I hope for your sake its something simple, but I fear its the OPG. Hope Ford gets it taken care of in a timely manner. Please keep us updated on your progress:thumbsup:

These oil pumps are freaking me out. So sorry this has happened to you but your warranty is fully intact and you'll be back for sure regardless of what it is. Please keep us updated when you can.

I just checked my paperwork, I bought the car off the lot from a dealer so I'm just going by a print out they gave me. It looks like it's from Oasis.

Build date: 03-May-2016
Release date: 06-May-2016

Thanks for posting. Did you take the pic of the warning while the car was running? Once I got the engine stopped the error message went away, and I couldn't get it to show again for a picture. I didn't want to start the car again. I'll leave that for the dealer so they're liable.

Added pictures of the oil level on the dipstick and the car's reported oil life percentage to the first post. I took the pictures this morning at the dealer (it's the next day after dropping it off). They won't look at the car until Monday at the earliest, most likely Tuesday.

Yea :(, once I pulled over and determined my oil filter was still attached and the engine still was full of oil, I assumed the oil pump failed.

How has your car been since it was repaired? Do you trust it and drive it like you would've beforehand?

I'm also curious to the depreciation after having an engine replaced/repaired. I feel like it will have some impact on the value of the car, even if it was covered under warranty and repaired properly.

This happened to me last month with my Whipple GT ...
OPG in the GT350 is similar to the GT. Not a billet steel.

from the MMR website:

2011 - 2017 5.0 Mustang GT Coyote MMR Billet Oil Pump gears
Starting at: $319.99

Simply the finest Billet Gears available for your engine, made from Premium US 9310 Billet Steel, heat treated to exact rockwell standards, CNC Machined for a precise fit

Fits:
2011-2016 Mustang GT
2016+ GT350

disclaimer: I am not recommending anything, just pointing out there is an aftermarket for this part.

OPG failure at 6 7 k rpm under heaven load means damage to all bearing to some degree. I had shut down the motor within seconds after hearing the bong bong bong and seeing the oil pressure warning and 0 oil pressure and this was at around 6.5 k full load. I dropped my oil and it was clean, I check the filter and it was clean. I checked all the cam bearing caps, and the drivers side all looked good but passenger some had slight scaring so I thought I would throw a new OPG assembly in change the oil and see how she runs. Well in startup it ran and sounded perfect for about 20 seconds then she started to tick and clack. I restarted 4 more time and it got worse. Point beefing it's not likely a motor will survive OPG failure and loss of oil pressure under full load and high RPM.

kairojya I'm sure you'll be taken care of - sorry you're having to deal with this. And I hope for the rest of our sakes the OPG doesn't become a problem child.

Good info, and I imagine there is damage. I was frantically pressing the start/stop button to try to shut it down but it wouldn't turn off until I came to a complete stop. Is that normal? I had the clutch in for sure and the revs dropped to idle speed, maybe I didn't shift into neutral until I came to a stop and that's why it wouldn't let me kill the engine.
