I think my situation was unique. Is your dealer a Contact (large) dealer, or Select (small) dealer? The Contact dealers usually have more pull and get their allocations pulled sooner. If your dealer sells a lot of Mustangs, and the area the dealer is in, is hot for Mustangs, you won't have to wait so long as some buyers out in the sticks do. I always believed that the car should be built according to when the order was placed, in sequence, period. That's not the way Ford does it though. I saw 2016s getting built a month or so after ordered, and then some poor souls waited 6-9 months for the build after ordering. Good luck with yours.
It's fine that Ford wants to a arrange scheduling on a timeline rather than go by order dates, but the timeline should be publicly available to ordering customers. It would really be nice to know that you have an allocation slotted for build in X month or at least quarter. It is really irksome to be five months post order and not know a anything more than that said allocation may be filled sometime in the next year.

I completely agree. What is even worse is seeing a stock order Shelby setting in the showroom with $20k over, and we are waiting for our retail order car to be built.

My dealer seems to be relatively large. They have an additional Ford dealership (2 total) in their network.

Any dealer whether they have an allocation or not can put an order in the system and Ford Performsnce will recognize that order. However, if there is no allocation behind the order, it will not get built.

This is the biggest bump in the whole process. You basically have to take your dealer at their word that they do have an allocation. How many sad stories have there been about people paying deposits, only to eventually end up with a refunded deposit and no car months later?

The car is awesome, but the ordering, waiting and wondering process leaves much to be desired.

The rep should know that.. regardless if they disclose it. When I ordered mine my dealer told me the rep informed him that Ford wanted to pull the order immediately. I ordered 3/4, pulled the following Monday, built 4/18. Delivered a less than a week later.

Not to sound stupid or anything because I'm genuinely curious. Is there any benefit from ordering and waiting months rather than calling dealers and getting it way sooner? From what I understand some dealers still charge ADM when ordering so I can't see any benefit there. Maybe to avoid shipping charges?

You can build it exactly the way you want it is the main advantage. I don't know if Ford plays games but GM dealers sure do. They will take deposits and give you an official looking order forms that say your order is at "1100" which basically means it's in GM's system but without an allocation, it never goes beyond that. It has never happened to me as I don't order cars but I know a guy who waited over a year for a car that was never coming.

Are there that many options though with the 350s? Just exterior color/stripe options and electronics or convenience package right? That's pretty crazy too man -- waiting a whole year. Jesus, lol.

I've been on both sides. Sometimes you can just walk in and get exactly what you want off the lot and sometimes you need to order it. I'm not a big fan of buying out of state, sight unseen.

I bought my '11 GT500 off the lot while people on the forum I was on were still waiting for the car they had ordered 5-6 months earlier. I ordered my '14 GT500, got exactly what I wanted and it only took 2 months to arrive. Both were at MSRP, from the same dealer that I'm buying the GT350 from.

I ordered this one because I couldn't find one within a reasonable (to me) range of 200 miles without a stupid large ADM. I'm still paying a small ADM but at least I'm getting exactly what I want. Looks like it'll be 3 months from order to receipt for me this time.

Not really. There are 2 packages, the technology package and the convience pacjage. Additional options are OTT stripes, the color of the car and stripes, the black roof and the Shelby car cover. Not sure there is anything else.

Gotcha. Cool. Thanks for the info guys. Hope I didn't hijack the thread but I've always been curious. Good information to know.

Call 1-800-367-3788 and press 1. They will ask you for the order number (T001) and the dealer number (F23227). If those numbers are correct on that dealer order sheet, you should find out if there is an order. Let me know.
I called them for my order and they confirmed it is line, but due to a "material hold" I will be waiting another 1-2months for completion . Wish I could get them to move up the order due to a track event at TWS mid October, but sooner than later it should be here. Thanks JMA406!

Did FP actually tell you your car would be completed in 1-2 months? My car has been on unscheduled material hold since June, and outside of my initial contact with the Ford Service folks on this forum who told me it would be "a "couple weeks or months" I have never been given a time estimate to completion

Ford accepted my order on 8.13.16, and when I spoke to Ford Rep today he said the delay should not exceed more than 2-3 months total time since accepting my order, I was given a priority code 11 (not sure if it really matters). Hopefully Ford will be able to fix the "material hold" soon, and we all get our cars but only the car gods know the date of delivery.
