Sync 3 screen went blank ...

but the radio was playing..... UGGH


Had my iPhone plugged in playing STP off of iTunes and I also had my daughters iPhone charging. Was adjusting the volume and all of the sudden the screen went blank. When I got to a traffic light I shut the car off - turned the power off - waited a few seconds and turned everything on and the radio came on but the Sync 3 screen was still blank.


Put me in a crabby mood .... Grrrr !!!


Anywho, got to my destination. Took the family in for dinner, came out a hour later and everything worked fine. Was scared to hook up my iPhone tho... lol



Anywho. My question to you guys is: Is the Sync3 System a little quirky buggie like ?

Just wondering. New Car for me and all.

Mine does that from time to time. It usually fixes itself within a few minutes. The other day it wouldn't pair any Bluetooth device, and the day after that, after a phone call it froze in phone mode and the radio wouldn't go back on. I had to reset it to factory settings.

Okay so these are temperamental I quess. That kinda blows. Love the size of the screen and all the features it has.

It sounds like if you want to use carplay it is going to be a bit more than just the software update. Current understanding is an updated usb port (or such) is needed as well.

the quick fix for that is to switch to android:cheers:

if the screen is not coming on on time theres a bulletin in ford about that

Where did you hear September? That would be great, hope it's true but all I've seen Ford say is before the end of the year.

To the OP, my screen went blank like that the other day. Sync 3 is definitely a little buggy, more so than even the old MyFordTouch system in my 2015 EcoBoost.

To do so: Select radio > Hold the power button (center of the volume knob) + the right-seek button at the same time for up to 5 seconds. This should fix any bugs and glitches the system is having. Thanks for the tips. I'll have to check it out this weekend. FWIW, It's all been working good since last night. Let's hope for the best. Love the car.
