If you are going base and want manual do yourself a favor and get it with the performance package.

I just bought a 2016, mainly because of the 0% financing, but the hood vent turn signals are a nice touch. I would go with a 2016 and get the 0% for 72 months and possibly even a blue tag model which will save you another $1000? Assuming you like a 2016 color model and can find one still on a lot, there's really not much difference between the 16' and 17' other than 16' have the hood vent and the 17' has Apple Car Play. I'm assuming there will be a Carplay update for the 16's though. But, like I said, the 0% financing is really nice. Almost forgot, you can probably find a really good deal on a 16' Premium now. My Premium only cost around $50 more a month over the base, and it comes with A LOT of nice features, granted I could probably do without most of them, but they're still nice to have.

That is the only package in considering because it's a great deal but it will be hard to find on a lot

Having owned a 2016 and now an exact clone 2017 I can tell you that the 2016 had body panel issues (Ford footed the bill for 8 days of body repair ((failed)) and the dealer took the 2016 back and ordered me a 2017). I can't say I miss the hood ornaments but have noticed that I do not get the clunk in the IRS and the drivetrain seems much smoother, also the clutch is more like the Steeda spring I put in my 2016. The body is straight and all panels fit perfect :-) I would venture to say that many folks out there have misaligned and bent panels and do not even know it or care.

I don't think the 17's have Apple carplay and Android auto yet.
They certainly have them . I was using Apple Car Play in mine like 2 hours ago .

Is Android Auto a premium feature? If not I'm for sure getting a 2017... the only problem is if I ordered a car it wouldn't arrive before 9/1, which is when the 0% interest over 72 months expires. Maybe a way around that?
It is a premium feature in that you need sync 3. The 16s with Sync 3 will be getting an update for android auto and car play. Probably by the end of the year. Big thread in the audio section of people whining (maybe appropriately so) that it is taking so long for the update.

The 17s already have car play/andriod auto.

You use the apple music service by any chance? If so, would love to see a screen shot of what it looks like when a song is playing.

we have owned the 15, 16 and now 17 mustangs. on both 17 that we have, premiums, the heated and cooled seats retain their memory and turn back on where you left it at instead of hitting the button each time you start the car. 17 does indeed have apple car play in it. no digital speedo except in the GT350 we just traded in.

That is a great feature. my 135i remembered the heated seat setting - though only for something like 30 minutes. Sounds kind of like, 'what's the point?' feature, but I was surprised how nice it was to come back to your car after popping into a store and have the heated seat turn back on to where it used to be.
