I have a 2015 pp GT with 21k on it
It keep popping out of second gear and making a
Grinding noise when it does... I took the car to a
On the north side of Houston for repair.
They call me 2 days later and said that the trans needed to be replaced and or rebuilt and it wasn't going to be covered under warranty due to ABUSE!!!
($2600 for rebuild) ($3800 for a new trans)
I asked what did they mean by abuse and they stated that due to hot spots on the clutch... I show up to the dealership an hour later and asked to see the clutch. The service advisor tells me that the trans was still in the car. I asked how did they see hot spots on the clutch and he called his service manager.
The service manager stated that due to the amount of wear on the rear tires and the exhaust on the car that it has been driven hard and 9 times out of 10 it was hot spotted....

Can anyone refer me to a good service department in Houston who isn't trying to BS me

Don't the GT PP tires wear faster than normal? What do they look for with the exhaust? Does your car use any oil? Do you have a catch can / oil separator?

they might be suspicious of your aftermarket exhaust setup. Did you buy the car from them?

does the catch can accumulate any oil?

I would contact deyesha on here and find yourself a reputable ford dealership! They can not say there are hot spots on the clutch without even taking the trans out!

The guys with stock clutches reliably holding 600+ WHP would beg to differ.

Its not if the clutch can hold it or not...its the way you drive it. I drive it like I stole it...most of the time. Power shift, launch like i'm trying for orbit...two stock clutches in 5000 miles, now on RXT and destroyed my first MT82. Gotta pay to play.

Reading post like this make me nervous to add mods to my car. I think it's wrong to deny claims and then blame mods on the car for the reason an unrelated part failed. I went through a similar situation with Honda and had them deny a trans issue based off coilovers and the fact that a Honda dealership didn't swap the oil in the trans despite me having receipts purchasing their MTF and performing the changes myself. Good Luck!! I hope it works out for you.

my thing is what the hell does hot spots on a clutch have to do with the car poping out of second gear.
The stock clutch is fine, and holds a pretty good amount of power... I've seen these clutches hold 2 kits (not for long)

My Zeros didn't last more than 8K miles with zero burnouts on them.
Lol. My Pzero's lasted 25k with zero burnouts. Then again, I had them with the 20" Foundry wheels (square setup) and 3.55 axle. I think the PP's really chew them up with that Torsen 3.73.

OP, I def don't see a valid correlation here with what the dealer is saying. Obviously you're not making it difficult for them to void warranty with that exhaust but I believe the burden of proof is technically on them to say that your exhaust had something to do with it.

I've heard of people having this issue with popping out of gear. I've never had it with mine personally. I just recently put a blowfish bracket on but even before that, never had that issue. I don't see what a clutch would have to do with that. Hell, just get a BF bracket. It'll probably fix the problem!

Unfortunately not in the real world. They can blame it on the aftermarket parts and then it's up to YOU to prove otherwise.
