its a very different layout to the Sync 2, Apple Carplay is not out yet, might be the end of the year, you might need to pay for a software upgrade and a different port for it, all up in the air at the moment
Sync 3 will be over here by September I have been told, as I am waiting for the UK Maps to be installed into my CS
Yep, late August/September for the first MY17's to hit the UK shores :headbang:!

Is the UK maps not just the Europe F5 SD card put in your car instead of (Probable guess here) a USA F5 SD card?

These SD cards are widely available.

The Ford UK price list for MY17 does state sync3, but i didn't realise there might be two versions for my16 and 17 builds!
It also states android and apple compatibility but doesn't explain what that means.
Do you have a link deep south? Or is it just the website you're referring to?

The price list at ford.co.uk is the only "correct/legal" document, and from the 29th Feb 2016 version "for vehicles manufactured from June 2016" says:
- SYNC 3 8" colour touchscreen with 9-speaker DAB radio, USB & Bluetooth
- Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility **

** Compatibility and certain functionalities may differ depending on the type of device and version of operating system.

If you mean are there differences between MY16 & MY17 Sync3, I have no idea - but I don't recall any mention of it in the US forums.

MY16 Sync3 is not car play or Android auto compatible. It needs a hardware upgrade.

However whether UK has My16 Sync 3 or My17 sync 3 remains to be be seen and we'll have to wait a month until we can see.

The UK cars since June are all MY17 with MY17 SYNC3, so (since the price list says so) they are "compatible" with the android and apple stuff - in theory!

Yep, I'm aware of that, however, I'm comparing US MY16 with US my17 SYNC 3. We could get a US MY16 sync 3 in out MY17's, instead of a US my17 in our my17 -> That being said, it's all hypothetical until we actually see one, I know of a chap picking one up in 3 weeks so will get info from him when he's got it.

If it was like the Sync 2 on SD card, as you say would be easy, but on the Sync 3 its all installed onto the Sync 3 harddrive, gives you another SD slot. But for imports need to wait till they are on the Euro cars, then can be copied over

Ah shit, didn't realise that, not fun :(. Kina makes exporting one (with a nav at least) a bit of a paint.

Sync3 in a UK S550.......courtesy of KentMustang.com :)

We are starting to see the first Mustangs with Sync 3 arriving now. Any new build orders placed come with this system as standard across the range (the Nav element is still optional as part of Shaker Pro)

I've found the sat nav a little bit of a pest to be honest, My house is named, it's impossible to find on the nav, I just have it go to near the road - granted, once I get to my village I know the way.
One way of inputting your house on the satnav, go on google maps, pinpoint your house, write down the lattitude and longitude numbers and enter them on your satnav.

I know you know where your house is, but its just an example of entering a destination that doesn't appear to show on the satnav.

Don't know how configurable Sync3 is but I certainly prefer the Sync2 display.

The basic problem is that postcodes were never intended to be used for navigation, but they are a shorthand way to identify an area... for your postie!. Sometimes you can add a house number, depending on how the map supplier has set it up. In "less urban" areas a postcode can cover quite a large area...

But this tip is a really useful one, and is pretty much guaranteed to work!
