I ran mine with the OEM filter for a few days, could not really notice a difference. If you are on the fence go for a ride in a 5.0 with an open style filter over 6k it sounds glorious.

Yeah basically any open style intake, I don't refer to them as cold air intakes on these cars because the air temp is going to be the same regardless. I really like my roush but to each his own.

Well after running the Airaid intake elbow and the aFe dry filter for a couple of days I can say I highly recommend it ... surpassed my expectations and I'm one to take all these aftermkt claims with a grain of salt.

Really pulls nicely in the mid-range especially ... feels like a good 15-20 ft-lbs of torque if I was gonna estimate.

Not much change in the sound ... still awesome with maybe a tad more roar when the rpms get up top.

I'd do it again!

Now I wonder what the rest of the Airaid set-up will do ... ie. the open cone filter in the box that attaches to this elbow.

Anyone go to that next after the elbow? 4VMayhem ... maybe you?

Try to put a clean oem paper filter. Drive the car for 40 miles and see what happens. I ve been running all 3 setups for a while, steeda intake with insert, afe dry filter and a clean oem filter. Oem filter actually worked the best, i don't know why and how but whenever i switch from afe to oem, the car wakes up. Steeda on the other hand needs a tune and inset removal with 7300 rpm fuel cut off to actually take advantage.

I went with the complete Airaid cai after doing the MIT and it did give an increased feel of acceleration and performance. I don't know how much HP it gives. But it definitely felt like it made a difference. Maybe it was just an increase in throttle response. But you'll definitely notice a bit.

But just so you know, the MIT does not match up with the actual cai box. It curves slightly differently. And the end on the MIT that meets the box is different than the end on the cai tube. So you'll have to buy the entire cai, lol!! But I recommend it if you just want something that'll give a better feel for DDing.

Interesting that you say this as I noticed the same thing on my previous car ... the stock filter felt more responsive than the K&N panel filter.

Having said that, the Mustang feels pretty damn good now but I'll give it a go at some point soon as the swap is easy to to and will report back my impressions.

Well that kinda sucks ... thanks 4v! With the new Ford Power Pack coming out soon with the GT350 CAI and a tune, that'll likely be the way I'll go regardless.

This thread is interesting. Just bought a 2016 GT, did the drop in filter and removed sound tube but torn about next steps. I decided to contact Ford Performance about their Power Pack and apparently the first version is due out any day and will be a filter and tune. They are expecting to add other versions in the near future. I think I may just do the Airaid MIT then wait for the Power Pack instead of another tune to keep my warranty intact. I am hoping the Power Pack will include mufflers too like the 11-14 pack does.

You mean a CAI.

Been there done that. Not gonna repeat.
Should be called HAI because they suck in 160* engine heat. I'm not an open filter fan especially living in hot humid Florida. I've run open filter intakes in the past but never again. I'll only run a closed box intake like the Injen Evolution or Afe power momentum (Airaids clear plastic lids tend to warp open from hot under hood temperatures).
