How to improve throttle response / low down power delivery?

Had my GT for coming up to 500 miles now and one minor gripe is that it feels a tad under-powered. Once it gets going at higher revs it flys but the pickup response low down is lacking.

All I have is a Cat Back, what's my next port of call to try and improve this? Cold air intake and a remap? If so which one here in the UK? I've seen Dreamscience off er a tune for £450, is this good value you think?

are you driving in normal or sport+ mode? I feel there is quite a noticeable difference in throttle response between the two.

still could do with more pull lower down the revs though, this is the highest powered car i've ever owned yet also 'feels' the slowest in years cos 90% of driving is at low revs. :doh:

Have to say when I took out the dealer demo I was expecting much more with it being a V8 5.0, and at low revs (which is 90% of driving where I am) it did feel as flat as a fart... but damn it looked good, sounded good and made me feel good (probably means I have an inferiority complex), and I wasn't looking to buy one as a race car!

I must admit, however, that I didn't try out any of the driving modes as I was more concerned with the general feel of the car and rather than spending the entire test drive f'ing around with the gadgets, so it was in whatever the dealer or last driver had it set at - so I'll have to cast my final judgement when the car's here...

... but anything that 'tweaks' the throttle response (as pointless as it may be as it will just mean I get between sets of traffic lights quicker) will still be certainly be worthy of consideration !

Yes mate always in Sport, Race Mode too if the weather is dry like it is now. It needs something I feel, I definitely find myself needing to drop a gear in the Mustang where as with other cars I'd just floor it..

It's a flat spot for valve management or something or other (between 2/3rd gear)

so it was in whatever the dealer or last driver had it set at - so I'll have to cast my final judgement when the car's here...!

unfortunately as far as i can see there's no way to set the default mode, it's always normal when you start it up regardless of what you left it in.

I agree the throttle response is very poor. Compared to my Monaro, at low revs the Mustang feels less keen to pull smoothly. Sport + does help, but it still feels artificially held back. I doubt there is much to be done other that use more revs, which isnt a great hardship afterall

A high flow filter will help a bit, I have a K&N. I also have a JMS PedalMax with adjustment knob fitted, which basically shortens the throttle pedal travel (I did a little write up a while back) and helps with low down response. But by the sound of it the imminently available Power Pack 2 tune from Ford should be just what you're looking for - IIRC an extra 40lb/ft at 1500rpm

That sounds perfect Mr Wolf, but for the impatient ones like me who doesn't want to wait, is it just a case of getting a tune? Maybe a new filter as well and perhaps the JMS Pedal Max

It is the nature of the coyote 5.0 as it makes it's power/tq in the mid to upper rpm range. I have found it more pronounced in the manual than the auto around town.

My old 2014 GT auto with pedalmax didn't feel nearly as lacking down low/throttle response. Add in a tune and higher stall converter to circumvent the low end cheesiness.

Glad it's not just me then that thought throttle response was poor/lethargic. Mentioned this previously on past posts after my test drive. Thought it might be because didn't have it in Sport + mode or that road was damp....but after reading above maybe not? My M3 which is also a V8 although doesn't really kick in till about 5,000 rpm, throttle response feels much better lower down

Took me a while to get used to it but I initially found it more sluggish than my Audi 3.0 diesel (240hp but 500nm torque). Largely down to engine characteristics - diesel much more torquey at much lower revs than petrol but once I got my head around being in a lower gear it's pretty similar.Kind of what I expected from a similar torque motor.
Much better over 3000rpm though (Oh the noise !!) and can take a fair bit of throttle from the off (at least in the dry) without spinning up the tyres rather than being too gentle with it.
