That sounds perfect Mr Wolf, but for the impatient ones like me who doesn't want to wait, is it just a case of getting a tune? Maybe a new filter as well and perhaps the JMS Pedal Max
Tune would do it but you may have warranty issues if you get problems with the engine. I've been holding out for this from ford as I believe we will still keep our warranty intact.

The JMS pedal, from what I've read will help, however, I've learnt to adjust my driving style to suit the car

I think it's deceptive in its power delivery. Having a load of torque is great... unti the roads are damp then every boot of the throttle is rolling dice in terms of ending up in a hedge (as a couple already have).

Be careful what you wish for ;)

It really is way too flat below 3500rpm in 3rd. Then it redlines at 6500rpm so you dont have much to play with.

Feels artifical too, like its nannying with the tune to prevent power... you feel the variable valve timing get its act together then it acceletates...

Its scared me overtaking slow cars at 40mph in 3rd gear... pull out and boot it and nothing happens...

Good thing mines an auto, boot it, drops down 2 gears, next thing I realise I've overtaken 4 cars and enjoying the rush

Had my GT for coming up to 500 miles now and one minor gripe is that it feels a tad under-powered. Once it gets going at higher revs it flys but the pickup response low down is lacking.

All I have is a Cat Back, what's my next port of call to try and improve this? Cold air intake and a remap? If so which one here in the UK? I've seen Dreamscience off er a tune for ÂŁ450, is this good value you think?
Our Windstorm Bundle is the perfect group of mods to add to your catback to add some more grunt down low in the rev range! This performance bundle includes a MyCalibrator tuner, our Severe Windstorm CAI and our Evenflo high flow low temperature thermostat. Our tuners here at Livernois Motorsports have developed custom calibrations just for this package with its modified CAI and the low temperature thermostat to get you the best driving experience, great drivability and more power! You get gains of up to 46hp and 48# torque with this great package.

And the CAI looks pretty cool too!

You sure the tune works on UK cars?

More low-end torque? Time for a Camaro. :ninja:

But really, coming from a long line of LS engines, the gutless lack of torque on this coyote was bad. Really bad.

E85 tune with VCT tweaks helped more than anything. We gained 40 ftlbs of torque under 3200RPMs.

I have learned to adjust my expectations and enjoy the peaky power production.

We probably need a bit more practice on the Mustang manual gearbox. Having driven a manual and auto M3 (sorry to keep going back to this car but only one I have for comparison), there was no noticeable difference in throttle response except the auto was boring and droney to drive.

Must admit I thought the same on my test drive, surprised how little torque there is at low rpm.....however, when spinning at 3k+ it comes on song:D

To be fair its a similar story with my '65 289, not much going on low down but flies at higher rpm! And makes awesome noise:headbang:

Having come from a tvr Tuscan 4.0 to the GT I had expected more low down torque from the GT.With the Tvr Tuscan it came alive at 3800-4000rpm and just flew, and I got used to it and always got the revs up in readiness:).My GT has the Auto box where kickdown quickly guarantees that you will be in the good revs and it also flies very nicely thank you.Different story in sport mode though as again not much happens until 3800-4000 rpm so I now find myself copying the Drive mode and dropping two gears instead of one when I want a thrill .Shame really as just like others no doubt thought .....5 ltr,420 bhp,V8,can't go wrong for low down torque ,but I was mistaken, still love it though and if you keep it near 4000 rpm as a starting point then it rarely disappoints.

The Coyote is just tuned for mid to high rev power. Want more grunt? Drop down a cog. That's all it really needs. Even LS and Hemi engines (yes I have driven both, friend has a 2014 Charger and I almost bought a Gen5 Camaro) are gutless down low because that's just how naturally aspirated engines work.

Big V8 engine in a big heavy car needs at least 3000/3500 rpm to get seriously going.

Hell, my gear change point if I'm not being a fuel sipping goody-goody is 4000rpm! (or redline if I feel spritely that morning ;) )

We in the EU and UK are spoiled by turbo diesels and turbo petrols. We need readjustment back to natural aspiration.

Sure, other cars with large engines such as the aforementioned TVRs may get up and go a lot quicker lower in the rev range, but they don't weigh 1700kgs

Any NA engine shouldn't be full throttle below 2500rpm IMHO.

Yes the engine does prefer middle of the rpm range and up, but I have noticed that sometimes it gives me more ooomph than other occasions, depending on how I've been using the throttle or if I've been sitting at a slightly higher rpm in the few seconds prior to slamming the accelerator down.

To me this stinks of throttle lag from an electronic throttle and the ECU itself, have had this in plenty of other vehicles before. I imagine a good remap would make a big difference and going on recommendations from Gibbo in a post a few weeks ago I've ordered a JDM custom tune with SCT controller. Hopefully I should have it an a week or so and can test of it is the 'drive by wire' as I expect
