Apologies for the newb questions.. but YouTube and Google aren't helping too much. I just got my nGauge with Lund Flex fuel tune flashed yesterday afternoon.

My question is... I want to be able to set it to the most common or important 6 displays that are used by normal folks. Going through the list of available displays... there are a million, half of which, I couldn't even start to tell you what they are (to me, the LAMBADA is a dance... lol.. yes, I realize the letters are different). The ones I figured would be most usable are:
1) KNOCKR (which btw, I noticed during acceleration got to as much as -5.. is that bad? it read 0.0 unless I was on the throttle heavy)
2) the setting that tells you whether its learned the fuel or not by reading 0 or 1, not sure what its called because its not in front of me.. but I found it (which, mine still reads zero after 40 miles.. is this because I'm just running 93 and it already knows this? I thought if it recognized your fuel it should read 1).
3) Air intake temp since I have a CAI. Is this ACT or ECT? ECT got to 200 today because its a friggin 100 degrees in hot ass Atlanta. Which one of these do I need and what is considered concerning? (Edit: I found AIT.. air intake temp, which is about 10 degrees higher than outside.. more when sitting).
4) I want the one that tells you the octane or alcohol percentage.. which the higher the better, ideally being 70+... Couldn't figure out which one that was by scanning through.
5 & 6??

I don't really care about having RPM and Speed in there.. I can just look at the dash for that. I only have a CAI and catback.. so I'm guessing there isn't anything crazy I need to be checking. So.. again, looking for what you guys are displaying.. and in those displays, what is considered bad?

Also, how do you set it so it turns on and off with the car?

Thanks!

LAMBDA is air fuel ratio based on stoic. 1 is stoic and anything less than that number means running rich while anything more is lean.

If you want to see intake temps then display ACT air charge temperature. ECT is the engine coolant temp. Higher intake temps affect power, the ECU will pull timing to negate knock. You really shouldn't worry about high intake temps, unless you were at the track.

And as for KNOCKR; negative is good! It means that no knock has been detected by the sensors and the ECU is advancing timing. Which equates to more power. Positive KNOCKR is what you should be concerned about. With the heat down here you will see positive knock at sometime, but it is rare. Also you could see positive knock with bad gas.

Thank you.. at least I know the negative Knockr is good... I'll watch out for positive and check out the LAMBDA to be as close to 1 as possible. What do you monitor?

I generally monitor ACT,ECT, LAMBDA1,LAMBDA2,Spark, and KNOCKR. Although I do change it every now and then just to learn what all the readings are.

Can you explain spark to me? As I understand it , it means degrees before top dead center

This video really helped me understand timing and how KNOCKR is related.

That makes sense, but what Im wondering is, what the numbers actually mean, if knock shows -2 , what does it represent? and so spark

- knock means the knock sensors are happy and adding timing

When I was on the FF Tune I monitored the following:
Lambda1 (This will also tell if O2 sensor is going/gone bad - happens on E85).
Lambda2
ALCH_PCT
ECT
Knock
Spark

I always tried to monitor something the factory ones do not.

KNOCKR showing -2 means that the PCM is adding 2 degrees of timing advance over what is commanded in the tune. A positive number under KNOCKR means it's pulling that amount from the commanded timing advance in the tune.

Back to one of the original questions asked; can someone explain what the Spark indication is for?
