Looking good guys! How does the spring action feel? From the video it looks like the ball slides down the shaft to the retaining collar. Also, did you have to do a mod to keep the boot up to the bottom of the retaining collar? An installation video would be lovely.

The spring is pretty firm, so most people will probably use the "lockout ring" for leverage. That's good, keeps a person from accidentally engaging the shifter. There's no mod to the boot. The shifter includes a plastic sleeve that fits into the collar on the boot (emulating the notched plastic portion with the screw holes on the stock knob) and snugs everything in place when you use the screws to put the shifter back on. They really designed this well.

The only thing that's tricky is that before you get the screws in, the knob will spin around the shaft, so it could be tricky to get the first screw in. Once that's in though, the second screw will of course line up fine and the shifter will stay well in place.

Sounds good, will be placing my order shortly for a black knob. So don't have to remove the stock plastics piece on the boot?

Why no Magnetic color choice? Brushed does not match imo from the couple pics already. In like flynn if can color match Magnetic. Might even have some red stitching painted on to match C/S interior:)

ordered my manual shift boot from quirkparts for $58.79 shipping included and might take 3-5 business days before shipping depending on availability.

Black installed with manual shift boot

Only took about 15 minutes, more tedious than difficult. PS disconnect the wiring plug on the corner nearest the steering wheel, and DO NOT tug the bezel too hard pulling it off. There is slack but not a ton to get your hand in there even

But now I see why they give you 4 screws (2 extra). Tiny little screws and facing forward on the shifter in an awkward position. Whoever thought of that design (instead of the screws facing the side) should be shot. I definitely dropped one in there; oh well.

PS you will need to ziptie the OEM manual boot around the top around the metal stalk just below the bottom "lockout ring." The hole at the top of the leather is far too large and will just slip off- it wont sandwich in between the black plastic piece the goes on the stalk and the bottom "lockout ring." Just make sure you have a zip tie or wire or whatever you want to snug the leather up.

PPS- the little star looking bits in the screw bag one goes on each screw before threading it in. They are on the OEM screws too if you look.

That looks marvelous. Is there an option/way to etch the the P R N D S on the knob?
