Limp Mode - on HWY - Question

What colour scheme did you go with? I might have drooled over it in person @ the dealership

Oh, and I grew up in CR!

My car didn't make it to the showroom as I was there for it's delivery. I went with magnetic with black (white trim) stripes.

Temps

Interesting. Engine Oil was @ 100. Stopped at a light and took a quick video of the gauges.

Cylinder head was just above 80.

Certainly seemed like the car was being preemptive. I am very curious.

Usually my cylinder heads heat up much faster than the oil temp. I have seen the oil temp only once above 210-220 F cylinder heads regularly 210--220 F in 100 deg F ambient temp. Have you checked the oil level ??? what oil are you running.

Oil that it comes with. Had the dealership do an oil change at 2000km as well.

Overall, as much as I love the car, I don't like the amount of issues I've had in the first 2000km. Feels lemonish haha. I think it needs to be taken back in and replaced with a new one.

Seems like we may be seeing two types of limp mode. One related to the transmission overheating, which seems to happen under higher loads. And another related to oil or coolant temps, which may point to a specific component that isn't working properly (like the thermostat, or maybe a sensor of some kind).

I can understand the transmission overheating on base and tech cars since they don't have the cooler (and I don't mean that it is OK to happen, because Ford should have put the coolers on all the cars, I just mean that it makes sense that it might overheat due to the lack of the cooler), but the all the cars have the same oil cooler and radiator, so I wouldn't expect anyone to be seeing a limp mode from those temps unless something wasn't working properly.

Thought I'd try the car out this afternoon on the highway as the summer heat is finally on. 97 degrees in the shade and 30 miles into my drive I suddenly get "Power Reduced to Lower Engine Temp" warning.Had the air conditioning on doing between 60/70 mph using 4th/5th gear mainly.Oil temp 223f,cylinder head 201f. Turned around and headed home and it did not cool down to let me rev above 4500 rpm for 27 miles!!. Ive hit limp now 3 times due to tranny temp and it usually cools off within a mile or 3-4 minutes however this form of limp was extra irritating.

Dangerous too bro. You hit limp mode in the passing lane when another car/truck is passing with you (but behind) man...that can end poorly...

Sorry to hear you have the same problem I do. Let Ford know man. Limp mode on the track is one thing, driving on the hwy is another thing...

Record video of it, get your dealership involved, send it to Ford Performance, just whatever you do, document it and leave a paper trail.

Will be emailing the dealer service tech asap. I took pictures of the warning message and temps. It went on so long I wouldn't have had enough memory on my phone to record it!!

Ford is looking into it...car has been in the dealership a bunch of times. Honestly, everyone i've spoken to has been fantastic.

No solution yet though.
