Today was the 1st time I seriously considered just backing out of this. The wait is starting to get to me. Plus a mate of mine is pestering me to go have a look at an M2 as he works at BMW
It's so near yet so far and can feel more hiccups coming
Whyyyyyy? Your 99.9999999% there

Compared to the timescale the dealer gave me its 6 weeks ahead of schedule

I was lucky enough to get a cancelled order in the spec that I wanted and it's still within the estimated date I was quoted, so I'm trying to be patient. I haven't had to wait nearly as long as most people on here, but it's still difficult! I am frustrated by the lack of information though. Naturally, like everyone else, a delivery date would be appreciated. I don't know if I have to wait a week, a month or more! I appreciate the Mustang has been a much bigger seller than Ford anticipated and this has caused complications and delays, but it's been on sale for around a year now. You'd think there would be significant improvements in the delivery now...

I would have expected once the car had left the factory, it's transport to the dealer would be pretty well planned in. e.g. They book it on a boat to Zeebrugge, they know it needs a certain amount of time to go through the undersealing process and customs, then allow 24 hours or so to get it to the UK, then transport ready from the UK docks to the dealers.

However, it feels like a bunch of cars turn up at Baltimore, someone then books it on a boat to Europe and no further. It turns up in Zeebrugge, then someone books it on the next leg of the journey and no further. Then, they don't book it to the dealer until it turns up in the UK. Why not just book all (or most) of the transport when it leaves the factory?! They must be spending a small fortune in storage fees etc. Imagine booking a holiday for your family in the middle of summer that way: Book a taxi to the airport, then just waiting for the first plane that's going where you want with enough seats etc. It would be a nightmare!

I'm a bit gutted a lot of the Fedora cars have gone to Liverpool. The lack of any previously arranged transport links probably mean they'll only trickle out of there whenever they have a spare transporter etc. Whereas in Southampton, they have the transport all in place etc. There may have been a backlog, but I'm hoping it would move through there quickly enough. I can see some or most of the cars currently in Zeebrugge getting to their owners before the ones that are currently in Liverpool.

I know I just have to sit tight, but it would be nice to know what's going on. In the information age, I don't think it's too much to ask. I just hope we all get ours soon enough!

It's nice that people are keeping status updates of their orders, such as the Fedora cars now making their way to owners. At least we know that at least some of them are working their way out. It's certainly much better than sitting in the dark.

The latest information I've had from Stacey is similar to what others have already posted. Mine is in Liverpool waiting for a transport. As previously stated by others, they aren't told when they're going on a transporter which is a bit of a shame. If they were given information about the schedules, that would be amazingly helpful. I think we can only echo our praise to Karen and Stacey though. It would be a lot more frustrating if they weren't there to keep us in the picture.

Anyway, let's see how it goes...

Been doing a bit of digging. Ford's northern distribution hub is in Liverpool, by the airport. That explains the frequency of transporter sightings. "It is primarily used by the Ford Motor Company as their major distribution hub serving Northern England and Scotland by road and rail. 175 people are employed. The handling and storage capacity of the site is 4,222 vehicles"

Our cars have gone from the docks to there and are being distributed to dealers.

The thing that done my head in today and almost pushed me over the edge was sending my dealer an email. I sent him details of where the car was currently, when it will likely be in the uk and asking when to come in to sort the finance put.
Why the hell am I doing this? Not heard from him once. I tried getting a ride on the hill climb at goodwood for next Thursday. Nothing.
I just want an email. Is it too much to ask?

tooley, that's good to know. Hopefully they send a decent number of transporters down south...

Yes ive been looking at the M2 and it does look good in the flesh but ultimately it's still just another 2 series. But the question is, is it worth another 7k - still trying to answer that one.

Seems to me that the root of all are the teething issues getting the delivery chain from the US to Europe ironed out. After all, apart from the Mustang and the Edge, how many other Fords sold in Europe are manufactured in North America. Seems like they are still getting it figured out, and we all know that big corporates are v slow in changing things (at least the one I work for is!).

my car is on the Tarago along with 152 others (not sure if Mustangs or not).

ETA 1st July into Zeebrugge.

What is the time to dealers (Inverness!) roughly from Zeebrugge? I'm looking at hols end of August and want a early September delivery for my 66 private plate :)
