guess not too hard for coyote to pick 100hp in NA engine.

'We took a 5.0-liter Coyote short-block – put the GT350 heads, cams, and intake on it and picked up 100 horsepower – Mike Delahanty"

How much for parts and labor to get GT350 heads and cams install?

Wouldn't the cams have incorrect lobe positions for a Coyote crank? I'm pretty certain you can't just put those parts on a Coyote (at least not the cams). Now if you took cams that have similar lobe profiles to the GT350 motor but with the lobes repositioned for compatibility with a CPC, then you would be in business. I would expect the piston valve reliefs might also need some work.

Thats exactly what they did. Ford Performance had multiple engines on display somewhere, one with coyote block and voodoo heads and intake, one with voodoo block and heads and coyote crank, and maybe one more. Anyway they have specific cams out with the exact same specs as the voodoo cams, but in firing order to match the cross plane crank. A52XS crate engine.

Edit: Here it is. http://www.enginelabs.com/features/...rd-racings-new-5-2-coyote-crate-engine-a52xs/

Ford made a set of cams for gt350 heads but with 5.0 firing order

They've also got a full on 5.2 cpc with gt350 heads already developed. Makes a good bit more power than the voodoo too.

It's a killer by itself.

Then imagine an ecoboost version. Ouch.

All Ford has to do is put the 5.2 CPC Voodoo in the Mustang add some Mach1 decals and 4.09 rear gears and they have a Mach1.

Why do you think it's a "beefier new axle" this is IRS so adding stronger half-shafts can be accomplished without changing the differential component. Unless there is something I am missing that the current differential component is seeing failures I'd think Ford has motivation to take weight out of the IRS, and I'd speculate that is what is going on here.

That may have to do with the fact people are breaking them without changing cradle or differential isolators. Most auto cars that have had a dif break, have those replaced. Isolator compound is important in component durability.

Take the gt350, swap in the 5.2cpc, lower the rear gears, 10 speed auto and 8 speed manual available, and a modified aero package. Top it off with a modern "wow" piece akin to the old shaker scoop (must be functional), and you have the Mach 1.

Well, I guess if you add in reverse, it technically has 7 gears :p

Even coming from a drivetrain engineering background, I have to think that 8 manually shifted gears in a car with a fairly broad torque curve is a bit ridiculous. Yes, GM is using 7, but even that is a bit excessive. 5th, 6th & 7th are all overdrives, with 6 & 7 being real deep highway economy gears.

I saw a study a while back that suggested 6 gears was all that really practical for a human to operate efficiently, though studies like that are usually only worth the paper they're printed on. But, OTOH, this would be a car that could start from zero and go all the way up to highway speeds in 3rd gear, so it doesn't really need a lot of ratios, it could tolerate fewer in a wide range (not that it necessarily should).
