So here is the deal. I took my car in to get some things fixed under warrenty. My brakes were making a high pitch noise everytime you touched the brakes. My leather on my steering wheel had gone bad, and there was a bad piece of weather stripping on the driver door. I took the car in and they said it would take one to two days to fix. It turned into 5 days and every day they had different reasons why I couldn't pick it up, and the reasons were against what they said the days before. So long story I pick the car up and it has a door ding. I know my cars I am probably the most anal guy as far as dings on my cars. My other car has 2 door dings. I know exactly where they are and when. My Mustang has one rock chip on the lower plastic part on the front of the car. I know what my car has. Well they finally get the parts in for the window and the cooling seats. I take it back in 3 days ago and for some reason I just felt like I needed to take a picture of my trip info. When I dropped the car off it has 10610.7 miles on her the average gas mileage was 17.9 which is what I average. When I picked it up the next day it was 10619.9 and 12.9 average gas mileage. I called them as obviously they hot rodded my car. The piece of window seal never got replaced, and there defense was they ordered the wrong piece and they test drove it to see if it had the window noise. Well what do you guys feel about them driving it 9 miles to make the window noise? Also they were doing 12.9 gas mileage compared to what I always hit around 18.

12.9 mpg isn't very good, and it might be hot rodding depending on how many stop lights they went through. Although it's not very hard to average 12.9. The driver of my car may or may not know anything about that. :D

I recommend at least setting MyKey speed limiter next time you drop the car off for service. That turns off the "Performance" apps and other stuff you don't want mechanics looking at. On a related note, if you do setup a MyKey, you might get a 3rd Key fob off of Ebay so that you always have two master keys.

Heh. My car was brought down from Provo to Ogden, UT about 75 miles north of me when I got it. I'm just not even going to think about how they might have driven it over here. I just hope they changed up the gears a bit and didn't just cruise along at 2.5k RPM for the whole hour on the freeway during a time when I want to see the RPMs varied frequently on the engine. But the sarcastic part of me is cringing and going "Oh don't worry buddy, they probably varied the shit out of those RPMs!"

Its a crap dealer for lots of reasons and I would never go back to them if there was any alternative, including driving 50-100 miles to another dealer. But that's your call.

But the mileage thing could just be from letting the thing idle which is 0 MPG. We can't really comment one way or another because you never said how many miles since the last reset or even if the dealer could have intentionally or accidentally reset it.

I disagree this rises to any evidence of any abuse yet. People are so quick to jump on the dealership these days before using some basic common sense.

I have 5600 miles on my GT and only averaging 13.5 for the life of the car all "city" driving, no highway. Meaning some was above that and SOME BELOW. Averages, math people. And I'm definitely not racing it around town etc, just normal driving with auto 3.55 gears in sport mode.

It's VERY possible the mpg went down as there are a few different displays of mpg- last 30 min, trip, etc. Depends which one you're talking. I highly doubt the lifetime mpg went down that much; the last 30 min, well that makes sense even if there was simply traffic.

And they may have had to drive it 9 miles depends on the location of the dealership to get up to any decent speed (that would be close to highway speed) to test wind noise. People seem to think dealerships shouldnt drive their cars at all yet somehow diagnose the problem if its fixed; but then come back irate if it's not fixed and the dealership couldnt drive the car. It's a lose lose view honestly.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about abuse and they should obviously fix the door ding. I went thru 3 dealers with my previous car because of dings, etc. before I settled into a dealer I liked and trusted. Shit happens.

I take my car to a Roush dealer in my area and my eco is like a prius to these guys so I have no worries about anyone hot dogging my car.

Let’s get this experience with your dealer documented for you, n813ca. Also, I’d like to loop in the customer service manager for your area if needed. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

I redline my GT 3.73 thru 2-3 gears a day and I can still pull an average of 16.9 in mixed driving. Something is very wrong with 12.9 but I'd at least suspect they left it idle for ever which is no less abusive IMHO
