You often hear about exterior scratches / dings occurring in the service department (or no service done at all) but here's a good one. I know for a fact someone got in major trouble for this. The rascal probably would have gotten away with if I had the black interior. My seat cover is being replaced next week.
Oopsies!

Now that's what can only be described as a "crying shame"! And dealerships should know better than to let "Grease Monkeys" crawl around in these cars. Good for you to have the seat replaced.

They are only replacing the bottom seat cover. If it does not match, then, yes, they will be replacing the seat.

Not much, if any fading of the interior should have occured over the past year. I use the sunshade diligently, have tint, and always park in the garage when I am home.

When the guy came over to take my car to their detailer, he took one look at the stain and said, "Man, you musta been pissed!" I felt more inconvenienced than anything, though, because I knew it was going to be fixed on their dime. They've been really good to me thus far, so I didn't get angry.

Funny you should mention this because I overheard bits of the strangest instructions from the guy at the podium when the workers were fetching my car after my tire replacement. Over his little walkie talkie thing the guy was specifying who he wanted to drive which vehicles up front to us waiting customers, as if he only trusted certain employees. If he was referring to my car, well, that was a fail, wasn't it? :headbonk:

When j brought mine for the strut, I saw the tech get out, take out the seat cover he had in it, throw it away and all. I had talked to the tech (nice and knowledgable guy) and we (service writer also) are all car guys, build and restore cars etc. We all ogled each other's project pics (my cobra, SW's bronco and techs 66 coupe). Yet when I got to the car, grease spot on seat. I grabbed the SW and made sure to let him know that I saw the guy take the plastic out. I know he tried!

Tech came out and had a wipe that took it right off the white LE seat. I was happy, he was apologetic, no reason to see manager, problem solved. When I went back, I even asked for same tech to do the work

I had the Red Line leather in my 2013 GT convertible and something similar happened. Brought the car in for service and the service manager made a "big deal" about placing little paper mats in the car so as to protect the floor/carpet. While in the service waiting room drinking coffee, I observed a mechanic jump in my car to move it. You guessed it...grease on his overalls across seat bottom and transmission tunnel. Super pissed off. They cleaned up...but never quite looked right. I should have demanded a new seat bottom. If I bring my car in now for anything I cover the drivers seat with a large beach towel. "Once burned twice shy".

Can't you just clean it off?

Off course we tried to remove it - no one could get it off.
Then it must've been some kind of solvent and dissolved the dirt into the vinyl. Bummer.
The good thing about vinyl is they match easily.

My ford service department completely destroyed the chrome Sync bezel that surrounds the stick shift when they were fixing my clutch. They replaced it a week later but the part they used was a different color and contrasted with the rest of the interior. A week after that they finally got the chrome piece. After they installed it I noticed a huge scratch on the top of it. Not only that, but this new replacement part rattles. That's where I'm at right now. Still waiting for the 3rd replacement with no scratches nor rattles. Not happy.
