I was thinking maybe an injector had an issue and was ticking. E85 is tough to flow at the required amount.

Piston slap would remain about the same sound, maybe decrease as everything sets, over the life of the vehicle. Since you got it checked at a dealer (who had a special tech observe it), I doubt it's anything serious. I'm thinking youre just focusing on it.

il see if the sounds still there tomorrow il update the post, ive been running straight E85 for 2 weeks now and before when i got the tune. Ive been running the tune with a combination of pumped gas a mix and straight E85 a couple times for 2 months now and beat on the car a bunch and didnt hear the sound before so maybe you're right and im focusing on it. If it helps the sound is more noticeable on the passenger side if thats how everyones is. Like when your standing on the passenger side of the car in front of the headlight Also it was in my garage so it might've been louder bc of the echo.

I had a difficult time hearing the noise in the video, but based on the RPM's I do not think it is the piston slap sound people have mentioned.

My understanding is that the piston slap happens at a higher RPM (maybe closer to 2000) and is more of a rattling sound, and not a ticking sound. At least, that is the noise my car makes :) .

I think your engine is making a different sound, but I'm not sure if it is anything to be concerned about.

listen to it off your phone i found it to be more focused on the sound than if you listen to it on the computer and also turn the volume up. you can hear it throughout the whole video but mostly in the beginning when im on the passenger side fender. Its the tic tic noise and you cant really hear it as well once i move towards the front of the car.

What does the owners manual say about running E85 in these cars? I don't have mine yet, otherwise I'd look it up. Just know that many vehicles explicitly state not to run E85. Doesn't the "don't use E85" warning on some vehicles get placed there because doing so could harm engine internals not designed for use with it? If the car was designed and built with the intention to use premium 90+ grade gasoline I wouldn't use anything but what is recommended by Ford for the car.

I was curious, found the owners supplement online. See the "Refueling" section on page 23. Seem like E85 is a no no.

Recommended fuel is an important part of the proper maintenance and optimal performance of this vehicle. The use of gasoline with an octane rating lower than 91 can lead to severe mechanical damage to your vehicle, may degrade vehicle performance, and may affect your warranty coverage.

Note: This vehicle is not E85 compatible. Use only premium unleaded fuel.

Just another thought, take a piece of paper and hold it 3-4+ inches from the headers with the engine running. Try to move it around enough so that you get a good coverage, and feel for anything "hitting" the manifold (exhaust gas). See if it's an exhaust manifold leak, might be able to catch it that way.

Just make sure you and the paper never come in direct contact with the exhaust.

I just got word, not that it is the issue your describing but ? Some of the engine plates between the engine and tranny rattle. It doesn't cause any issues but can be annoying. I believe it is covered but you wont have the car for a bit

Also i was on the dyno today getting the CAI tuned in and dynoed 491 with still much left in it. Had to call it a night got too late... and another GT came in with an appointment. So im supposed to go back tomorrow. The sound kinda disappears after id say 2500 to higher rpms?
So let me get this right - you are hearing odd noises from your already tuned engine. Before you figure THAT out you take it to the dyno and tweak it even more? Come on dude are you TRYING to blow it up and get denied a warranty fix? :frusty::frusty:

I've been wondering what is that rattle i keep hearing between 1800-2500 RPM .
It is not piston slap so maybe i've got the issue you are talking about.

I'll have to bring in my car to have it looked at.

Mine makes the same noise occasionally. Had it the day picked up the car with 4 miles on it. Still has it now at 4200 miles. It is different from the other typical noise that has been discussed (piston slap) Had the master technician listen with his "stethoscope" and he said the heads sound normal and the injectors are noisy. So we agreed to monitor to see if it gets worse but it hasn't really changed.
