Our V8 sounds so awesome. I'm sad that the big rumbly American V8 is on its way to becoming history.
I hadn't really thought about it until I was trying to make a playlist for an upcoming road trip, and realized I needed to look up some rumbly Coyote sound clips online to play in the background while picking songs. Try it! It's so awesome! The aural experience of driving this car is more important than you realize.
P.S. This is my first V8 can you tell?

Wait until you get some exhausts on it to really open up the sound.

I am a Mustang guy through and through and while I agree, the Modular Motors do sound pretty good, they will never sound as good as a big cam LS7. Just my $.02

It hurt to say that a little bit.

A 7 liter pushrod V8 at 7000+ rpm? Yes please.

Reports of the demise of the V8 are much exaggerated. They may get more efficient, will likely become less common and more expensive, but they'll be around for a while yet.

I love the sound of mine winding out. Yesterday I discovered what is basically a road course beside my neighborhood. A nice, somewhat narrow road about 3-4 miles long with lots of tight curves and hills and one big straight stretch. All this going through farm land. I crushed 3rd and 4th on the straight stretch, hit 80 and slowed and dropped to 3rd in the next curve and went through at a normal speed. I came out of it to see some Amish guys in a wagon, eyeballing me. Probably heard me coming a half mile away..lol

I agree that big cams tuned for high revving that don't meet emissions sound really good at idle. I had a 302 with a cam in it and the idle was awesome. Of course a cam swap in a modular motor could sound like that too, but since the cams are independently variable we don't have to live with some of that poor function of a pushrod V8 that also sounds really good. A person could probably also program the cams in a modular motor to have poorly optimized valve events at idle in order to get that hit/miss sound of a large cammed pushrod engine.

They probably thought it was some kind of witchcraft.

The sound of the 5.0 is one of the many features I love about this car. I've been drawn to the Mustang sound for years, even when I drove my Camaro. They've always had that unique V8 sound different from the rest and it's a good sound.

Just simply test driving the '16 GT Premium I was in, the interior resonance of the engine was pleasing when you drive a quiet car every day. It certainly is begging to have exhaust installed though.

I look forward to underpasses as never before. If I could envision what time traveling would feel and sound like, it is when I'm at an underpass.

I completely agree, the sound of the stock GT exhaust is truly amazing. It sounds even better though with a relatively inexpensive H pipe.

And they do offer it. Love the way you describe it. Old muscle cars with big cams didn't have catalysts to think about. Doing this at idle with stock cats, and you'll be sure to have problems passing emissions well before the normal emissions useful life.

Back on topic: yep, the GT sounds fantastic. It is much better still when you start opening up the exhaust.
