I was wondering what kind of mod should I get first that would not void the warranty for my ecoboost Mustang? Does anybody know of a good intercooler to get?

Thanks!

I would highly recommend the Levels. I've been running it over a year and 40k miles and it's always performed flawlessly. It performs as well as everything else on the market and costs less. Besides the tune, it's the best mod I've bought for the car.

Would a intercooler upgrade void the warranty?

Technically speaking, anything can if the dealer wants to push it, even like a K&N filter. However, if something failed then they'd have to prove what caused the failure and they'd be hard pressed to prove that an intercooler did anything other than to improve performance over stock, lol.

Think about hood struts and maybe some tune + pre gapped plugs.

Warranty....Warranty....Warranty...What a waste? Ford owns you and your car as long as you are worried about the warranty. :ford:

In your case, I would say keep the factory intercooler if you are worried about warranty...

If you are worried about warranty your mod path should be Intercooler, Catchcan and catback. None of those can harm your motor, the intercooler and catch can are actually improved protection, Most of the restriction in the exhaust is the crappy downpipe so a cat back is for sound and aesthetics only. A dealer would be hard pressed to show any of those hamed an engine in any way because it is nearly impossible for them to do so.

If you say F* the warranty like I did Intercooler and catch can are MANDATORY. Pushing any tune through the stock intercooler is deadly to your engine especially with the added blowby higher boost makes without a catchcan.

Keeping Stock turbo location.
So path goes Intercooler (~$550) and Catchcan (~$180) > Cobb Accessport Stage 1 OTS (~$500)> Downpipe(~$500) > Catback(~$600-$1200) > Intake($2-300) >Cobb Accessport Stage 3(free Map) or custom tune ($200 lifetime tunes from Adam recommended)
You will be at the max of the stock turbo on pump gas. ~320 whp/ 420 wtq
If you go with a package like the MAP P1 + Intercooler you are down to around $2500-$2600 and will hang with a stock GT all day (slightly faster, actually ask me how I know ;))

Once you are bored with this it's on to Vargas stage ($2k), Meth or aux fueling and a custom tune.($varies but I'll say $1-2K)

At around $6K investment now and you are right around 380-400whp on pump 450ish on E30 and approaching what is considered the safe limit on the stock block. You should be easily able to hang with FBO GTs. This is my path and it is good if you don't want to build the motor anytime soon.

Going Big turbo
Intercooler and Catchcan > Catback > Accessport with stage 1. Once you have your pennies saved, a big turbo kit is $3-4K but includes an intake and downpipe and you need a custom tune for your AP. You are now on the limits of fuel and stock block, but if you build the block and add fuel,(minimum $3k without labor) the limit is only the size of your wallet. These builds are now running 600+ WHP and will have you neck and neck with most SC GT builds and assuming you have a base Eco like me you have a supercar below $39k. (+$6k for a premium PP)

Once a GT goes TT & built block though the game is up, He is basically running 2X 2.5 Ecoboosts and 1300+ whp is not a stretch

This is only power though, Even a GT will need to invest in suspension and tires before the exceeding 400WHP by mutch.
