When did you get your NSC code? Are you supposed to chase the dealer for it?
I ordered January 2016 and have not heard anything...
As Ozdaz says, you should be able to get your NSC from your dealer.
I did exactly that, and then supplied that NSC to Ford Oz via Facebook.
In my case, I was just checking to make sure the dealer wasn't bullshitting.
Every other dealer I went to wouldn't have been able to get me a car until next year, so yeah, I was suspicious.
This is why I think the system has its idiosyncrasies.

Think dealer allocation has a lot more to do with it than order date. Apparently colour and engine choice does too. I ordered on 5th March (contract date) and my car has been sunbaking at the port for 2 weeks. I will most likely get it end of June/early July and was initially allocated a January build that became a end of March build. Things I gather working against me is being in SA (seems alot more allocation to other states), engine choice (v8 where as eoboost seem to be here quicker), Colour (Ingot Silver rather than the more "popular" ones) and the final one body type (Convertible as not may around/ordered in comparison to fastbacks). Am I pissed about the wait, geez yeah, have I come to the point more than once of cancelling and buying another car, hell yeah..do I get a bit lets say "peeved" when I see people with later orders get their car earlier or with a short wait- F$%^& yeah...but hey - thats the luck of the draw !

I wonder if you received a car that may have been cancelled through that dealer? I am also in WA (Wait Awhile) so that could be an issue.....Mines a Magnetic GT Auto so not too much of an oddball combo....I believe each dealer gets a certain amount of cars bigger dealers more cars etc BUT if one dealer has sold 150% of their allocation and another has sold 70% you would get your car quicker from the second? I dont think its a Ford Australia thing its a dealer by dealer problem...

I got this reply from Ford today....fine with me really like I say Im not in a mad panic, I was told Sept 16 the day I ordered nothing has changed :)

Hi Daz, it's tough for us to say here at Facebook because a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing... we can't see when a Dealership submits an individual order to Ford AU; only the date the order was *accepted* by our logistics/scheduling folks. Your Dealership may have tried to submit your order ASAP but Ford AU may not have been able to accept the submission until a certain date. In every order we look up (including yours), it is a number of weeks after a customer orders at a Dealership to when Logistics accepts the order. Then a number of weeks again before Flat Rock accepts the Ford AU order into its scheduling (which generates the NSC).
From what the Facebook team understands, in theory two customers who walk into the same Dealership and order the same Mustang on the same day may not receive their Mustangs at the same time. There are a number of gate points that need to be passed, and at any time one order may pass earlier than another. For example, Ford AU may only be able to accept a number of Mustang orders from Dealerships around the country for that month, which means of one these customers may be unlucky and miss out; or an order on the assembly line is cancelled by a customer back in Australia, so one of these customers gets bumped up the queue (and this happens), or the int'l shipping company can only take so many cars on a ship so one is calculated to be left behind at the docks until the next ship... there are many factors.
For this reason we try to encourage customers to not compare orders, instead we say "at this stage it looks like around 15 months from order to when you receive your keys, stay in touch with us".
We don't want their ordering experience clouded by doubts their Dealer did the right thing, or speculation Ford Australia dropped the ball, or there is something wrong with the build of their Mustang.
I hope this provides some clarification.
Come back to us at any time, we're happy to help.
Thanks, FordService^JS

thanks for sharing that Daz, it's a lot of information about the process, and I was surprised to see the NSC only generates after Flat Rocks process, I had always heard this was the dealership placing the order.

I am with you, not fussed with the wait as it matched my finances plans, but it is always nice to hear what the process might be.

I do think this may play a part.
This particular dealer was certain of the Oct delivery. So, with all dealers offering same pricing, who you gonna buy from???
Maybe the dealers don't have quite as much leverage as they think?
Mind you, all the other dealers refused to accept that I could get a car that quickly. Not that it stopped them from trying to compete on price to some extent. But really, $500 saved vs an extra 6 months? You know which way I went!
I also believe that a truly savvy dealer may have more tools at their disposal.

Let's not even start on dealers tools as those "tools" mean that contrary to Ford Au ' s apparent rules, they managed to get dealer principal and display cars BEFORE early private orders like mine even had an NSC. Not sure that some of the dealers HAVE the "tools" or ARE the "tools". Goodluck to you for getting your car so early but a lot of us have had/are having a loooong wait !

This is good info and the first time I have read anything that helps explain the process from Ford

I ordered mine August 2015, was originally going to be built about August 2016 but because mine is one of the deleted colours I have received the wonderful news my order has been brought forward and should be built next month. I just got my VIN today which is even better. All going well I should have my card August 2016 so all up I'll only have waited a year - pretty happy with that!

GREAT news mate......
Hey OZDAZ5.0,

I think we ordered on practically the same day. You had any news? I was told to contact them with my VIN on May 1 so they confirm build date. I kind of hope that I will get a June date post the sync 3 change over.

I am a bit over the waiting game and really hope the car is as good as I think it is and not as shit as people keep saying ... with an unaligned boot, bonnet pinch, wonky back window, shit gear box, crap tires, dodgy paint.... wait why am I buying this car again?

lol

I think I know how you feel. Knowing that my neighbour's car has to go back to the shop for a week doesn't help either. Everyday I get closer to pulling the plug ... I was wanting a 'toy' car and am starting to think it might be better to invest in something older and - eventually - possibly more interesting and restore/restomod the shit out of it. Part of me thinks that a new car shouldn't be a project car. Spending thousands to make the car what it should have been from the factory sits strangely with me.

Relax guys, I've only had mine for five weeks, but it's all been trouble free. More than likely it will be the same for you too - and if there is anything wrong, it can be fixed. :)

The Dealer rang me last month and said my Magnetic GT fastback would be July build for a October delivery.

He can't supply me with an NSC number yet, so I guess we'll see what happens in the next 3 months.
