No car is designed for auto crossing, but there are certainly plenty of folks who enjoy it and certain cars make better starting points, not to mention it's a great way hone car control skills.

No need to knock it just because you don't enjoy it. Different folks, different strokes

I'm with drum. People Don't go buying a dually and start asking what you can do to remove the double tires in the back and go baja. It sounds just as ridiculous to take the magneride off the GT350 so you can drive around cones. If captain Picard were here he would be burying his face in his palm.

I don't see an issue with it. Magneride is fantastic for a mix of track performance and street manners/ride quality. If you don't care about street manners I'm sure a well setup race coil over setup has its advantages. The fact that the R comes with stiffer springs and different settings means there non-R setup was not 100% performance oriented

That's not a very good comparison at all. Really reaching.

Like autocross the GT350 could also likely benefit from a competition level coil over setup.. kinda like every competition oriented car that comes from the factory with magnetic ride generally run when setup for competition. It's not like he's stripping it off for drag racing and more than likely it he sets it up do autocross correctly with a few adjustments it would likely handle a higher performing tire better than the stock magnetic suspension would with stock calibrations.

Although I do think it would make more sense to buy a '16 base model and do it and not worry about electronics issues.

My $.02 cents.....There is no place on track or Auto cross that the mag ride is not superior to coil overs....its just a fact......just change them and then see how fast you change back..My guess is...about as fast a Mag ride can adjust it self in 1 sec.....lol

Huh what?! I want to know of you can disconnect the magnaride and have it not affect the car. I'm interested in installing after market coilovers and caster/camber plates. Magnaride doesn't work well in autocross applications.
Have you even driven a mag ride car on autocross?

Autocross?? Leave that parking lot krap behind.

The GT350 is built for racetracks.
You do realize autocross is more technical than track racing and requires a higher level of corner judgement. Tracks give you the apexes on a silver platter. Autocross isn't always very apparent if at all.

Yes, I've driven a couple different Corvettes and a GT3 with their PASM technology. I wasn't really a fan. There are things you can do to a high end coilover setup that you can do that you just can't do with the magnaride.

Look, I'm not knocking the technology when it comes to driving on the street or for people that don't like to adjust things. But the simple fact is, there are things you can do with coilovers that you can't do with magnaride.

I humbly suggest we get this thread back on topic. If you want to post about your track exploits or the virtues of autocross vs open track, there are different forums and different threads for that purpose.

Now, does anyone have any new exciting information on the 2017's?

Yes, it was an over exaggeration to illustrate the blasphemy. I will never understand how you can take something ford engineers spent thousands of hours of testing and R&D to develop so specific to this car and say "let's unplug it and install coil-overs. Ive never driven this car, but I'm sure I can do it better. "

But I guess stranger things have happened

April 4 is for the regular Mustangs, but I don't believe anyone has confirmed that date will be the one for the GT 350s. One dealer has told me April 8, but there are a lot of "Idunnos" out there.

I just spoke with my guy at FORD and he said, for the same/similar opt car it will be no more than $3,500 more for NON R (because it come standard with more) and about $1,500 for the R....but that is just what he heard 2 weeks ago, they still have not finalized it to his knowledge...He also said he believed one of the blues is exclusive for the R, and that Ruby Red may not be for the R...sad.....we will see in a few weeks I guess..
If I had to guess, the R will not come in grabber. Be sure to let us know. I have a Yeller, 16 R ordered.
