Never claimed I was FORD tech but I'm a tech at truck dealership even we can see when owner mess's with it. There have been Ford techs in here and I have family who do work at Ford dealership they have all said you can't hide the fact it was tuned. THIS has been beaten bush a lot. You think changing your signature hides that fact it was tuned? Can't hide the posts that you said it was tuned which by the way are there forever.

What has been documented only by people on internet forums. Most of came down too owners that was the problem. You don't know it trans issue you're just assuming it is.

BUT again like it was been said another hotrodder trying to pull fast one
where does the line get drawn on when the dealer starts looking for a tune?

blown motor - sure, 100% they'd be checking the ECU

driveshaft vibration? failed clutch?

I guess it was my fault for being quick to blame the transmission. Turns out factory plugs were bad in 2 of 4 cylinders. Took a couple of days to finally throw a misfire CEL. No dash lights had my suspicions piqued. Fixed under warranty. Ran diagnostics on ECU. :gasp: no tune. Thanks for all the kind words.

glad it was an easy fix  it is strange that it took so long to display a CEL.

The ECU information is interesting. Maybe they have to run a special test for that? Or else there is some mythology on this topic. I don't know either way.

Even if it was transmission, I don't think they should have denied a warranty repair, considering you bought it used from them, and they most likely cannot prove it didn't have a tune when you bought it. Really all Mustangs should be running the same MT82. Tuned EB / V6 should not exceed its specifications.

edit: mainly thinking of the flywheel, assuming it is a dual mass flywheel. Overheated / failed clutch is something else.

Now the question is, WHY were there two bad plugs? That's awfully suspicious itself.
Fords have been notorious for coming from the factory with incorrectly gapped plugs. Hell, after my whipple install, i measured mine and the most distance gaps were .041" to .049". I'd recommend everyone gap theirs anyway

Last week I was leaving slow from a stoplight in 2nd gear (3:55 gears) and the entire driveline began shaking and shuddering the car.

Don't start in 2nd gear (even with 3.55 differential) ... your clutch and maybe even your spark plugs might like it more. :D

Wow you can't make up your mind can you. First it's trans problem and no CEL, Now you had CEL and 2 bad plugs which is it? Then they hooked up to your car didn't see that it hasn't been tuned. But you claim it was and had it in your signature that it was. You change your signature so what is it you lied about being tuned too sound cool? Man you're all over the place :lol:

I assume he re-flashed it back to stock. Is there a separate test where they can see if its ever been flashed ?
They can tell this has been gone over many times. Flashing it back to stock doesn't work or even cycling key many times. This guy can't keep his story straight it screams BS

he said they ran diagnostics on the ECU and nothing caught their attention.

Do you know how a dealership could detect a prior tune? Ebay has these for sale : "Ford VCM II scan tool, dealer level diagnostics
