The sales are not good. Not going to make an excuse. But that does not take anything away from how this car performs. I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about how he car drives. The visibility is bad, and poor storage, but the driving is pure awesomeness. Period.
GM screwed the pouch with the stale styling, pricing and marketing to the Camaro5 knuckleheads. But the performance numbers cant be denied. I've driven both manual and automatic. I don't get the hoopla over the automatic. It shifts just as lazy as the mustangs 6 speed does. (nothing a tune cant fix) I really enjoyed the manual Camaro. Solid handling. Sounds amazing and I still happen to like the styling. It's not for me but it is a very very good car for the money.

The auto is definitely not a DCT. But it's a massive improvement from my CTSV and my L99. My buddy bought a M6 and the rev matching is a neat feature for sure.

The latest excuse?

"The majority of Mustang sales are fleet sales"

This is pure entertainment. The flailing and gnashing of teeth is just..wow.

I think I need to wait to see one in the wild before I'd say that. The 5th Gen was also a "great handling car" in 2009 but initial opinions changed after lap 2. We hope to see one at the track this spring, there are a couple prepping for SCCA and should be at Pitt early this year.

A faster single flying lap from a vehicle with more power is always likely. Especially when the competitor is a fully loaded, Premium GT at 3825lbs.

Motor Trend said in the M4/SS comparison that their SCCA expert says 40lbs is worth a tenth... First, I'm glad the SCCA has become MT's go to place for info. Eventually Camaro fans will figure that out... Next, at least apply that rule of thumb to the fully loaded GT Premium in that 1:24 at Willow... Suddenly, a GTPP is on top of the SS... and we have yet to see it in competition.

The 2015-'16 GT is a serious performer... real world, no bullsh!t, SCCA expert approved, threat to everything in its class.

The ATS-V is a faster car than the SS and it is not a serious option for that kind of thing. Far better for street though.
Off topic:

I missed your final determination on the weight of the new Camaro..... what happened? Was the car heavier or did you concede it was on weight as described by chevy?

I lost track of that old thread... things got crazy and I bailed out.

Agreed.

I think it's a shame that GM didn't totally knock the ball out of the park with a better design. That recent Buick Avista concept design could have been used with minor tweaks to make the front end more akin to an early '70s split-bumper Camaro, which would have been awesome.

GM neutered the Camaro and capped the options. 3780lbs is where I seen the 2SS and that is about where I put it, 3780-3820lbs... The 1SS is a delete of everything with no options. That's literally the only way to get the car at 3700lbs.

The 13.6/13.3 inch rotors are pitiful and the 245 in the front is all wrong. The 14.6 inch rotor the ATS-V uses was suppose to be standard. As was many of the 1LE components... Eliminating performance equipment and options was the only way to do it. Unfortunately, Chevy charges the customer for the equipment delete. There is no exotic material being used and I'm willing to bet the convertible coming soon will show weight gain in the base cars. Oh yes, it will...

As thePill said before, the Camaro could weasel it's way down to 3700lbs if they keep the convertible support out and, neuter the performance equipment. Both has been done. I just find it sad Chevy charges more for nothing.

The Mustang comes ready to support the convertible and GT350... It's on better geometry, looks far better, performs just as well and is cheaper. That's why people are buying them.

The Camaro barely makes use of its superior output  and has nothing for the GT350. If Chevy wants to strip the Camaro of its manhood just to be 10pbs lighter, on paper, than the GT, by all means.

You can't even order a proper stereo, brakes, wheels and tires because they were so afraid of a 3800lbs SS on day 1...

But it seems nobody cares for the new Camaro anyway. It appears a decent portion of those February sales were 2015's

Don't forget, the ATS-V went from 3700lbs to 3800lbs after only a few months in production. For unknown reasons... The last 6M 6th Gen we seen scaled was 3709lbs... You need to spend an additional $4000 in brakes and tires immediately. That is 100% of the modifications being done, brakes, wheels, tire.

Next is cooling...

When I sat in the 2016 SS, I felt like a 3 year old in a bathtub.
