Hopefully something like the PAC AOEM-FRD24 will become available. I have one in my 2014 but I'll probably end up with a Kenwood/Maestro RR setup if I don't upgrade to an S550.

So the stereo head unit is called the audio control module (ACM) and is separate
Then my question is - how do you upgrade the base stereo and is anyone have an upgrade available?
Until there is an installation kit from metra or scosche there is no real hope, and those seem to be a year or more away.

What we do know, however, is that the 2014 raxiom unit just adds nav w/ a touch screen...for $700. And from the Rosen (which makes raxiom) press release it sounds like more of the same.

That's a nope from me.

Well the 2014 Raxiom can now be had with an HDMI input. Might see a good sale from AM and the great support (from what I've seen from AM). I'd still rather see a true kit like you mentioned and I'd be willing to pay a couple hundred more for a setup like the Kenwood/Maestro solution. I want the gauges and individual tire pressure display...I guess with the HDMI input you could use Torque on your phone for guages.

You are right about the costs of android tablets being low. But, you have to remember this kit will contain a full bezel, wiring, harnesses and most probably will have some custom OS. The R&D costs will easily push this unit past the $600 mark.

However, for them to sell units they should be priced to a maximum of $800.
Ideally, the lower the better but there is absolutely no way it will come in at $300-$400. Look at their history and existing units. They are all in the $500-$1500 range.
yet TomTop is $300

so for another company to come out and make basically the same thing with better software, $400 is completely reasonable. my initial post holds.

Can't argue with that. $300 is very very reasonable for the unit for sure.
But then again, we have thread dedicated to the issues that are associated with the unit. The after sales support doesn't exist from the company side.
We use each other here on the forums for help.

Perhaps $800 is high. Let's hope they release it around the $500 mark.

Seems logical that it would be priced similarly to units from previous generations, which seem to be in the $700 range.

True! However there wasn't other competitors first to the market with one for cheaper back then. Either way this unit needs to hurry up and come out. If there's no release date by the first week of April I'm buying a Tomtop. I really tired of waiting

Agreed I'd gladly pay that amount but something needs to be released sooner rather than later or they will lose me and others all together

This is my first Mustang. Does anyone know how long it took them to come out with a unit for the previous generation?

I have said it before.. you guys will be waiting a while.. they are just repurposing what is already out there.. IE the TOPTOM or the other option out there.. so they are going through what the guys that bought the TOPTOM are.. they are finding issues and getting them resolved... They aren't going to send a more expensive unit out with the same problems or the roof would blow off this place

I can promise they didn't start from scratch.. They have stated it won't be a Rosen collaboration.. but it is with someone.. so they find an issue.. put in a change order.. wait on the revised version and install and test.. over and over until they feel its safe to ship..
