First a little back-story.
This is my third Mustang. 1st was a 2007 V6, 2nd was a 2013 GT, and now a 2016 GT350. It took many years and a lot of hard work to be able to afford such a car but looking at it now I would do it all over again. I ordered the car on my birthday, just by luck, in mid August. And like many of you, waited…..and waited……and waited…… Thankfully my dealer was kind enough to constantly update me anytime he received information from Ford. So…..after waiting what seemed like an eternity I got a text Monday morning (Feb 22nd) saying ā€œITS HERE.ā€ Well now there is a permanent hole in the ceiling from jumping so high with excitement lol. Wednesday my mother, father, girlfriend, and I hop in the truck and drive the three hours to the dealership. Meanwhile my parents are constantly messing with my head saying, lets go shopping first or go get some food…..you know because they’re parents haha. We get to the dealership and there she is, inside the showroom, dirty and untouched like I asked. Even covered in dirt this thing is stunning! I desperately tried to wait and see my color combo and hear one for the first time until it was my car. As member MAV said ā€œSaving yourself for marriage.ā€ SO WORTH IT. I’ll save you from the boring stuff and skip right to the first drive and overall impressions.

This will be graded out of 10. 10 being the best.

The Looks 9/10
This is the best looking car I have seem in a very long time. Its modern, yet classic and the front of it looks sooo menacing! I’m a sucker for white on blue and in my personal opinion it is the best color for it, again personal opinion. The only knocks are the panels are a bit out of line and the stripes have some micro scratches. Other than that it is stunning!

Power 10/10
I haven’t gotten it above 5k RPM but man does that power hit hard! It pulls so linear from 3500-5000 and man is it smooth, just like silk. The 13 was totally different, once it hit a certain RPM it pulled then quit real quick. Total change compared to the two. It does 100 no problem……from what I’ve read.

Handling 10/10
Mustangs should not handle like this. Physics say it shouldn’t and yet it does. I’m not one to push a vehicle on public roads but I got really into it around a few bends and it just didn’t let loose once. I’m sure there was way more in it but I’ll save that for the track. I was fortunate enough to drive a z28 and 350 really feels more stable and planted.

Brakes 10/10
Did we just hit a wall!? No!? Ok what did we hit!? It’s like hitting pause on a video. There is no hesitation when pressing the middle pedal, it just stops. However, its not like with some vehicles with strong brakes where the slightest pedal push halts the vehicle. A little pressure and it comes to a smooth stop a lot of pressure and you’re thrown forward alarmingly quick. Another thing I love is how there is no brake dive, It just hunkers down and stops as flat as a pancake. Reminds me of a GTR I drove a few years ago and I thought that was impressive.

Comfort 10/10
I figured it would ride pretty harsh, I mean it is a track car practically but I was not expecting how plush it is in normal mode. Holy crap does it ride smooth! My 13 was harsh and, due to the solid rear axel, loved to hop. All of that has completely gone away. THANK GOD! In sport damper mode it is bumpy but not ridiculous. It’s actually smoother in sport mode than my 13 was.

Sound System 7/10
I mean yeah a little bass would be nice and considering the price of the car I did expect a little better. It is the same system in my 2014 F-150 XLT but it is in no way a deal breaker. Besides, you have the a little button on the bottom right to make up for it.

Exhaust 11/10
This one surprised me. I’ll be honest, I was not happy with the exhaust from the videos. Thought it sounded to weird for my taste. That first start up was insane! That pop when cold starting really took me by surprise…….and then I found the exhaust button…… It went from crazy to a HOLY F*** HOW IS THIS LEGAL!?!! I was blown away it is incredible. At 2k RPM it is way louder than my 13 was at full tilt by a long shot. Just driving around town and hitting a down shift is just so rewarding! The sound, the pops, the crackles, it is the best part of the car.

Shifter 9/10
In the mornings it’s a bit difficult to get it into gear but that’s to be expected. It is one of the best shifters I have had the pleasure of using. It’s smooth, precise, and the throws are surprisingly short. In the pictures I thought the shift knob was a little cheap looking but in person the feel and look is fitting for the car. In all it is very rewarding to row through the gears.

Practicality 8/10
It has a bigger trunk than my 13 thankfully and the rear seats are….well…. they’re just there. The front seats are a lot more roomy thanks to the dash being pushed forward and it seems like there is a bit more leg room.

Features 10/10
The Tech Pack has a lot of cool features. Sync 3 is sooooo nice, clean, and easy to use. It took no time to connect my phone and figure out where everything is. I’m a little confused on how to get Spotify on it but I’ll figure it out later. Of course the exhaust button is the coolest thing in the car but the back up camera is a very nice touch and comes in so handy. The shift lights are cool, set them up for a low RPM just so I could see them. Navigation system is great, satellite radio is something I totally forgot about and is great. Oh and I’m a sucker for toggle switches and the ones in the 350 are so much fun to mess with.

Reactions 10/10
This one is a lot of fun. So we leave the dealership and less than a mile from the dealership there’s a silver dodge charger and I can see the flashes from his phone taking pics. He gets next to us and gives us two thumbs up. Yeah I feel like a rock star lol. We get on the freeway and about five or so people pass and give us thumbs up. Lots of looks and smiles and then we go get gas. We are about two miles from the exit and there is a family in a sedan and everyone is looking. So we downshift pass and get up to a reasonable pace and slow down. They pull up next to us windows rolled down and thumbs are everywhere! Park at the gas station and I go into the bathroom. I wash my hands and in walks this rather large gentleman. He looks me dead in the eye and says ā€œYou lucky motherf****r.ā€ I start laughing and he says to take it easy, that’s a lot of power. There are plenty of other reactions but those were my favorite.

Total
104/110

Notes
The rear seats are splitting down the seams a bit and I am not sure if this is normal.
Sometimes there’s a creaking noise on the right drivers side when going down the freeway between 70 and 80.
The hood flutters a bit which I was not expecting the first time but I’m sure there are ways to fix it.
Little pebbles love getting stuck in the fin on the rocker panel behind the front tires. Will have to order the plug looking thing asap.
The stripes have a few spots where it has already ripped off. It is mainly on the trunk so a little later I’ll order a new set for the trunk.

Final Thoughts
I cannot stop thinking about this car. Day, night, in my sleep, it doesn’t matter. All I can think about is driving it or just looking and taking it all in. Never has a car had this kind of impact on me. Sure it isn’t perfect but everything has a compromise. I love this car, the girlfriend loves this car, my parents love this car, and I have yet to meet someone that doesn’t like it. (minus some Camaro owners) This car will for sure stay in the family and be handed down to my future children…..maybe.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be happy to answer questions or comments, but first, I’m going for a drive.

You Lucky Dog

I just got word today that my car was built on the 23rd and has not been released for shipment yet. The anticipation is just killing me, I am so ready to put some miles on her.

It is soooooo worth the wait. I about gave up a few months ago but it would have been the biggest mistake of my life! Totally worth the wait!

Congrats Enzo, I've seen you anxiously waiting for the arrival. Your write up echoed many of my own thoughts on delivery day.

I'm sure you'll be reporting back in a month that you broke through 1000 miles!

I've still got less than 300 on mine. Already had three stoplight race offers and been pulled over by the cops on my way home from work yesterday because someone evidently called 911 and said I was driving "erratically". Today, two 2014 5.0 GTs had to double back to stop and take a look at my car parked at the tennis courts.

These things attract attention like nothing else I've ever owned. Be careful out there!

Hahahahaha that's why I take up two spots if three is not available. Coming home from walmart we had 5 people watch us accelerate at a stoplight and a lovely old couple roll down their window and yell "damn she sounds good!!" Not going to lie, the attention it grabs is a lot of fun. You be careful too. Try not to drive so "erratically"
