The 2017 is the same car as the 2016 GT350 Track Pack - "Way better"
Asinine.

I'm with you. I emailed my dealer today and asked if I could pass on the 2016 I ordered and put my deposit toward a 2017. I ordered mine 9/18/15 and it has not moved in Ford's system. Still no VIN, nothing. Meanwhile the number of cars sitting on dealer lots continues to grow. On cargurus.com the number has grown to 333 as of today. Some have been sitting for months. I think the oldest one was 159 days. Just doesn't make sense. It seems Ford cares more about their dealers than the end customers.Well, I abandoned my order today. I asked to be first in line for 2017 orders once the details are available. Between the heat issues, improved 2017 config choices and lack of movement on my order, there just didn't seem to be a good reason to keep sitting on a 2016 allocation any more.
If you call on those you'll find the majority are sold.I'm with you. I emailed my dealer today and asked if I could pass on the 2016 I ordered and put my deposit toward a 2017. Not from my experience. I've called about a dozen trying to get an MSRP deal, and ONE was sold. There are three cars within 50 miles of me that have been on the showroom floor for over a month. I've looked at them in person. Dealers want ADMs. There are a lot of these cars around, dealers just want too much money. Again, that's what I'm seeing. Guess if you're on the west coast or something maybe it's different. BTW the number of cars on cargurus.com is growing steadily. From 3 or 4 back in Sept of 2015 to 334 today. If you call on those you'll find the majority are sold.
Just because it's getting pulled now doesn't mean the allocation wasn't valid. It just means the allocation has been pulled. It's possible that it was an additional allocation but saying they didn't have one in the first place is a bit of leap.Received a call from Serramonte Ford (San Francisco) that the car I ordered back in August, 2015, finally is being built and wanted to know if I was still interested (I cancelled my order in November) and they still wanted 10K ADM. Told him I had already purchased a car last year for less and would pass. Obviously, the allocation they claimed last year was not valid and only now, these orders are being filled.
I think that applies only if the dealer has had the car for a while during which he has been waiting on the highest bidder to arrive. There comes a point when the dealer needs to take what he can get (MSRP still nets several thousand dollars profit), but I can tell you from my experience, if they are asking ADM, they will ALL tell you about the astronomical offers they've had on the car, but they'll sell it to you today for just $X,000 over...just because you're you. ;)Now, the flip side is. Dealers get calls all day long on these cars. They treat people differently if they walk in, ready to buy. I think a lot of these cars at $5k and even $10k ADM would sell for MSRP if you were there in person.

Sales manger were?Personally as a sales manager, if you called and offered $5k over I'd probably tell you it can't happen, and try and bring you in to pay the full adm.
If you walked in and showed initiative and we could count on selling a car that day - you'd have a much better chance.
