The oem shitter is a big limp dick. There's nothing precision about it. You want precision, get an MGW. End of story.

Point taken. Just don't want to fall victim in buying something that I can't be made to understand. I have an aftermarket shift linkage in my other vehicle because it needed it due to it being a lifted jeep. 90% of the guys running one on there jeep love to talk about how much smoother they are than stock, but I notice none of that, only that it functions as well as the OEM one before it ceased to work because of other mods.
If you can find someone local that has an aftermarket shifter, got sit in their car and shift it. If they are willing to let you drive it, do that, too.

I will sell you on the shifter in a nanosecond.

Thanks for the video links. I'll take a look when I'm not at work slaving away, lol. So tempting as they look pretty cool and all.

Should be the first mod on every car. I feel like I am driving a school bus when I sit in one without it.

My Barton was great when I got it and it's great now with their trans mount bracket. Their bracket is pricey but it is one beefy bastard. I like it. Plus a little Birdie told me Barton is working on something pretty sweet right now. I'm sure MGW and Steeda are good too. But I know this Barton is.

How anyone can get in a manual S550 and not instantly feel that the stock shifter is a piece of shit is beyond me.

Honestly, they're all great shifters. I don't understand why everyone is hating on the other brands. You can't go wrong with any of the three major shifters.

Exactly how I feel about it. I don't know about others but I'm sure they are great! But I know my Barton is great for me. And they are always available if you have any issues.

I think we should all just appreciate that we have so many options, and so many great, dedicated sponsors here. If I could set something up where I could try and review all three without spending a ton of cash I totally would.

my new steeda is amazing. if mgw is better than all, then that's got to be crazy awesome. but for the money, the steeda really is fantastic. steeda isn't trans mounted, but you'd never know it

I installed the Boomba Racing shifter bracket a couple weeks back and it made a huge improvement in the stock shifter. It's now much tighter, almost all the slop is gone, and it's much easier to find gears shifting both up and down. It won't be as good as a whole new shifter but for 20% the cost and 20 mins to install it's a great compromise. By installing this mod along with a lighter clutch spring I don't even feel like I need an aftermarket shifter anymore.

Even when I had the Boomba Short throw and Blowfish bracket it was a huge improvement over stock.
