Both your link and video aren't coming through. I think I remember reading your thread -- was yours all in Chinese? Or at least the bluetooth functions? If so, you may want to consider spending the $300 on the Tomptop. Although, with this new unit possibly being announced soon, obviously you should wait.
My unit actually functions almost perfectly in English. The Sync unit changes to what I think must be a UK English setting (I can actually switch it back and forth between chinese and english in the unit's settings, and it will force the Sync module to change as well.)

I say almost perfectly because it always corrects me that my phone is my 'mobile', among other fun things...

edit: Also I believe the forum truncates links for display if you're trying to use that for access--the actual links embedded with them do work

I just pulled the trigger on this I'll let yall know how it turns out.
Great! This is the first unit that appears to completely replace the stock system. I wish the details made it more clear exactly how it works. There is no picture of any plug adapters that will definitely be needed. But if they spent all the time working out the bezel, surely they are handling the plug.

This is way more than just a tablet, its got an amp, radio tuner, Bluetooth, its the whole remote face headunit.

Thanks for taking the risk for us, we all appreciate it

I've sent them a few messages asking a few questions and they have responded very quickly. Everything is suppose to be plug and play. They did tell me that it's there Chinese new year and he won't be able to ship until the 15th but I'll keep yall posted. I have quite a few other audio goodies to install with it.

Can't wait to see the results! If it works I will be going this route for sure!

What is the size of the original sync 3 and does it fit just right in the same panel I have? If I buy the oem unit, what kind of modifications am I looking at?

do you mean why dont they just sell a bezel for a standard radio?

the problem is the actual radio is not behind the radio controls. The radio is 12 inches lower down in the console, so they cant just make a bezel for it.

There is enough room in the standard screen location for a shallow 2 din unit to fit. If a company made a bezel that incorporated the base model climate controls with the layout of the premium bezel then that 2 din setup would become a reality.

even with the sync unit out, it would be a very shallow unit. maybe 5 inches deep? do they make any units that shallow?

i dont think i understand what you are describing. If you are talking about fitting a very shallow unit up where the current screen is, why would you need to move the climate controls?

edit - oh are you saying put the base model climate controls on the bottom of a bezel with the top setup like the premium? i have the base model and i dont remember how different the premiums are.

edit - nope, i just looked at a premium, its a different set of controls but they are in the same spot. so i am back to not understanding what you are describing.

Haha the reason why people don't just use the premium bezel for a 2 din setup is the fact that the premium climate controls don't play nice with the manual climate system in the base models without MFT. I am saying that if a company made a bezel just like the premium model but with base model climate controls that would be perfect.

the other thing is that without major surgery to the motherboard, you are going to have those big volume and tune knobs sticking out of the dash. They use the CAN bus right now to communicate to the existing stereo and screen, which is why the response time when you turn the knob is so frustratingly awful. lag on a volume knob? not the end of the world i know, but who designed that?

the more i think about it, the more i think this android style remote head unit is the way to go. You already have a decent volume knob, you can program the steering wheel controls to change sources etc... any standard 2 din system is going to have extra volume knobs on it we dont need etc.

they appear to be making incremental improvements on the android based one based on the pricing and OS version, so maybe this will work out.

of course i already bought the tom-top unit, and its a good nav system. but with the android setup i can pick between a variety of nav systems, surely one of them is as good as this one.
