Yep, I ran two JL 12w6s in my Subaru with a Slash 1000 mounted to the box for 4 years with no failures. Laugh all you want, I don't really care because I know it works. Keep in mind, everything vibrates around the sub, not just the box...

I've seen vehicles where the bass is so strong the vehicle has its own gravitational field. Amps were fine.

Thanks! That puts my mind at ease haha.

LOL yes no doubt, the first time I heard JL Audio 12w6 was back in 1996 when a guy had a Chevy Astrovan that had 6 of them mounted on wall behind the second row seats. I couldn't breathe those things were pounding so hard! And his amps were just fine mounted on the wall behind them.

Just placed my order for one! I had emailed them and a custom one being built for a single 10 with space for the amp on the back side. $170 shipped.

this is awesome ! will be going this route ! Its not much but I have tinkered with my fosgate 12' and at the back of the seats facing rear blows facing front out of the water. no comparison whatsoever. Placing the sub at the back of the trunk facing rearward produced the best bass.

They look good but they don't have much cubic volume and for that price they should be using lightweight birch. Make sure you have the right subs for such a small enclosure.

Nice lows will be difficult in a small, sealed prefab enclosure that's not built for your particular sub but I'm sure it will be a huge improvement over stock plus like you said, it will look good. Look forward to seeing pics.

yeah looking at the sub enclosure size and my sub, the enclosure is a little small in cubic feet but I'm not going for huge bass. Just want nice lows and a nice look.
They will build custom ones to spec.

There's plenty of quality subs that would go great in that small sealed box. Digital Design comes to mind.

DD is a tremendous company with a great product and they also recommend vented enclosures for optimal performance. In the four mustangs I've owned, I've ran over a dozen systems. I learned that a vented box tuned for the subs dramatically improves performance in comparison to small prefab sealed boxes. This box also looks like it seals off the trunk which will further reduce sound.

Don't get me wrong, you could throw in a high quality sub or two in this box and get results. I could slap in some freaking Kicker comps in there and get bass. I'm just saying with a little bit of planning and the right box, better results await. It might not seem like much on an internet forum, but if you're willing to shell out over $300 per sub plus the amp and good wiring, it would be a shame to leave huge results on the table just because this fine company made a box that fits flush in a Mustang. The specs are simply mediocre and so is the fact that they used MDF. There simply is no reason they shouldn't be using lightweight birch for a performance car.

I don't mean to be critical at all. I think they look great and I'm sure they'll get the job done for most people. But I'm a performance fanatic. If I'm spending cash, I want the absolute best possible bang for the buck and field knowledge tells me that a small, sealed prefabber isn't going to cut it when you can spend the same amount and get a better, custom made product that will produce superior results. I'll sacrifice a few feet of trunk space for resounding bass. To me, it's worth it.

So Idk anything about car audio when it comes to tuning or building enclosures to the specs of a subwoofer but looking at the RE Audio SexV2 12" sealed enclosure specs, this single sealed enclosure sits right between the recommended specs for compact and optimal.

That is good enough for me haha. This thing was sitting in a generic 1cubic foot ported box before and sounded great (IMO) and actually beat peoples full custom trunk setups with fiberglass and big 15" subs and powerful amps in a bass comp haha.

This better built enclosure should be awesome! Kinda thinking I should have asked about making it ported though...Any idea on how to go about this after the fact?
