Gnome Yeah that sounds like a plan. Had a look at the removal, it's not too bad. Just gotta be careful with the clips etc. Also the screws on/near the wheel wells.

What I'm more worried about is lowering the subframe to get the steeda stuff installed lol

Lol that's why I think it's safer to just give it someone who knows what they're doing. Wouldn't wanna risk a $1000 replacement per side just to save on installation.

:eyebulge: What happened there, too much heat gun? So glad I did not see that before I went to bed, I would have had nightmares.

That headlight was attempted to be opened at 190 Deg C Fan oven.

The suggested is 220 F normal oven .... so yes way too much heat!

Either way, I'm still not keen on what the heat might do to the plastic, Hazing or incomplete seal when closed up, I don't want moisture fogging up the lights later on.

What is the likely hood of a plug and play wiring bundle becoming available to just swap in a US set of headlights?
I know its been said its too hard before or whatever, but im sure someone will come up with a solution at some point.

My understanding is that LHD cars have a different beam to right hand RHD cars, so if you put US spec lights in they will not be legal and also dazzle oncoming traffic.

Theres always something...

I guess converting a US headlight to our standard Beam is not an easier process than just adding DRL's to what we currently have? (headlight would still need to be opened?)

Thanks

Someone mentioned that they were buying a damaged headlight on Ebay from the USA to experiment on to see how hard they are to disassemble, does anyone remember where that was mentioned? There are more off topic posts in the Aus subsection then there are on topic ones, makes it a pain to find anything. Yes I am guilty of this as well so not throwing any stones at anyone:)

FPV GT I felt sick when I saw your headlight.
The F to C conversion of 190C is 374F so the temperature was approaching double the recommended temperature especially when a fan forced oven is used. Really sorry this happened to you.

Yeah, there's some good (country wide) info in some of the "<State> Mustangs" threads. We need some mods/dedicated peeps to come and clean it up.

Sticky threads, all that jazz.

I hear you.

I was messaging with the OP on facebook, and he stated that he uses a heat gun. He can be more precise and controlled with this, however it takes a lot longer to achieve the separation.

He uses butyl adhesive so there should be no issues with sealing.
There are many examples of his work on FB, with completely happy customers

He lives five minutes away from me, I will be chasing him up:hail:
