Is water meth injection safe? I know there are many benefits but i haven't found out what happens if the system fails or it sprays incorrectly. I have seen that there are kits for our cars but since it is a triggered mod would i need to change tunes on the fly to use it? Dose it have a fail safe? How hard is it to install?

Some stuff I wrote up as well.

Methanol Injection is a great solution for customers in states that have poor fuel quality. Running Methanol injection can increase your octane to over 110oct* and has many other benefits, especially for direct injected vehicles.

Beyond being able to run more timing and boost due to the higher fuel octane rating, you are preventing your valves from building up with carbon which is a very common issue with all direct injected vehicles. Once carbon build up completely cakes the back of the valves it can cause misfiring, detonation, and loss of power due to a weak valve to seat seal.

Water/Methanol injection also helps reduce your charge air temps by a good margin. This is crucial when you are looking to get the most out of the factory turbocharger. The factory turbo, when turned up, can produce a great amount of heat which will heat soak your intercooler and enter your combustion chamber. High charge air temps will increase the chances of detonation and if they are extreme they can even melt a piston. I have personally seen Water/Methanol injection lower charge air temps by 20° which is SUBSTANTIAL.

For customers that are running upgraded turbo's you have probably hit the fuel system limit on your configuration. Yet another benefit of methanol injection is that is assist the factory fuel system in fueling your engine. Essentially you are giving it more "range" and allowing to push past your previously limited output. I have picked up over 60whp on vehicles that were tapped out on the factory fuel system, with still more room to go.

If you have any questions or concerns about methanol injection systems please email me at [email protected]

Meth injection is safe as long as you have the proper failsafes in place. I prefer SnowPerformance because of their failsafes and safe injection. There is a link below to snow performance safe injection. I have had meth injection on my EVO and one of my STIs. On my EVO, I ran it for 80k miles and was tuned for it at 36psi on the stock short block.

On the EVO, I was running an FP Green and a QTP electronic cutout.

Why were you running 36psi out of an FP green again? Their efficiency range is only good to 28psi, anything beyond that is out of efficiency. FP Black is where you would have benefits of 35psi+.

FP Green is a small 47lbs compressor wheel without extended tip. Seems like such a waste, if you actually were running 36psi when you only needed 26.

One thing that I would recommend with meth injection is having two tunes, 1 for meth and 1 without. I didn't have 2 tunes once and ran out of meth on a long road trip. I had to stop and fill my tank up with windshield wiper fluid lol.

We didn't have any issues with meth injection.

Nothing in particular, I ran meth in my eclipse and the nozzle sizes/meth mixtures that other dsm owners ran varied greatly. Just trying to gather up data points.

Telling someone you ran meth injection doesn't really tell you much. It's like saying I ran a turbo. Okay great, what size? how much psi, etc. The meth mixtures/nozzle sizes can vary greatly in a meth injection system and the two are dependent on each other. For example, you can run a larger nozzle size with 100% meth than with 50/50 meth/water, etc.

All that matters is what works on the Ecoboost Mustang not any other vehicle.

Stock turbo only needs 200ml/min nozzles realistically but I run 500ml/min on stock turbo and big turbo cars because it comes standard in most kits and you can just turn down the flow.

40% Methanol Windshield Washer fluid works great, most common is 50/50 Boost Juice. 40% Meth WW is more than enough for stock turbo cars to be max out.

24psi, 40% Meth, 500ML/MIN Nozzle, Start at 5psi, Full at 18psi.
