Actually, I'm thinking of a different scenario. I can picture the forum post pretty easily:

"My axle snapped using line lock and now my scumbag dealer won't honor the warranty. HELP!"

would be a legit complaint IMO

Of course it will be several weeks later when we find out he was using slicks at a drag strip and had a 200shot of nitrous on top, but claims he was completely stock.

slicks I could expect, but the nitrous shot would be dumb on a theoretical "his" part.

Do people really get denied warranty claims for using better tires? sounds ridiculous to me, although I realize slicks can have insane amounts of grip.

Lets get this back on topic, shall we? :p

For the '18MY refresh

  • DI Coyote with 450hp/425lb/ft
  • 10-speed auto
  • LED headlamps with integrated turn signals
  • Less "wrap around" to the headlamps
  • More aggressive front fascia
  • Revised rear fascia with a more subtle body colored lower area
  • Keep improving the interior quality
  • Glass roof option
  • PP available with the auto
  • More 20" wheel options

Rental car companies still rent plenty of manual transmission cars:

Class A
Mini
Mini car hire
Ford Ka or similar 3 doors
Manual Transmission only
AM/FM stereo

If you dont know someone that can get you out of the parking lot and teach you then put an add in craigslist for "teach me to drive stick and I will pay you $50 bucks" or for that matter put an add in craigslist that says "teach me to drive a stick for $100 bucks - Must supply car".... Stop by any driving school that offers 16 year olds driving classes and ask virtually any one of the old instructors to teach you. They will be glad to take a $100 bucks off of you and show you the ropes.

Where there is a will there is a way. Im not being a crabby old man but this generation appears to have lost the can-do attitude.

Pay for my airfare and I'll come over there to NYC and teach you Jimmy. I have got 15 years Highway Patrol under my belt, and I have been driving a manual since I was 18 and I'm mid 40's now. All you gotta do is want to learn. (and pay the airfare).

I'm down with all of these changes and think they all sound very reasonable. I think DI could add north of 450HP and I bet by then we'll see PP+auto.

I'm sure they will add one or two more tech features. HUD maybe?

As far as HUD is concerned, according to the owners manual, if you opt for the Adaptive Cruise Control, there's already a HUD unit installed in the car. Apparently there are messages projected on the windshield. Here's the snipit from the owner's manual:

Heads Up Display (If Equipped)
A red beam of lights will
illuminate on the windshield in
certain instances when using
adaptive cruise control or the collision
warning system. It will also illuminate
momentarily when you start your vehicle
to make sure the display works.

Wonder how difficult it would be to code the car to display the current speed upon the device? Usually the hardware is the hard part.

Highly unlikely in this car. I'm betting it's the same system as in the other Ford cars and it's just a single color strip like this one on the Taurus:

Boo! I have the HUD in my current 3-series, and I absolutely love it. Oh well, thanks for the info though!

Anything is possible, but I can sympathize with you. I couldn't buy my C7 w/o it.
