I'd be shocked if Ford can sell this car under $50k. I think a base price of $55-60k is more likely with the GT350.R coming in at a Z28-like ~$75k.

Z28 Barely out performed a Lagun Saga Boss on road course . Not sure where the GT350 will fall but I bet much Better. You can look it up on you tube
Not to doubt YouTube and certainly not to defend the bowtie but, per Car and Driver Lightning Lap times:

Z/28 - 2:50.9
GT500 - 3:00.6
Boss 302 LS - 3:02.8

Everyone was shocked when ford priced the 200mph,662hp gt500 at 54,900... this car will shock everyone, too. 48,995 base.

Totally agree. It's always been about making these cars "affordable". Sticker for a base GT350 wont be a nickel over 49 grand.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if a base GT350 is around 45k. Just above what a fully optioned GT premium costs (I just built one on Ford.com) . I only paid $39k for my 2012 Boss 302. (In the middle of winter...dealer wanted it to move off the lot). People are going to be surprised at how affordable they will be. The problem will be availability and dealer mark up.

Exactly!!! Mark up and availability, is going to be an obstacle! Luckily we are a part of a great forum, so we can help each other, get one in our garage with little hassle!

If this thing really starts at $48k plus options, I will without hesitation wait for it instead. That FPC sounds makes my spine tingle

So.....pricing to be released in May? I'm basing this on last years schedule. I'm hoping for a January NAIAS announcement so I can make an informed decision.

Pricing to be released in May; my initial estimate of $60K seems to have been wildly understated; I'm hearing it'll be closer to $75K.

Heard from the voices in your head or are these tangible sources? :p

It will not be anywhere near 75k for the base gt350. I wish people would take a moment and analyze the total package. Ford has mentioned we will be wowed at price. Nothing about 75k is wowing. Secondly they have minimized the materials used throughout the process. The interior aside from the steering wheel and seats which at most was 2k in upgrades is straight from the base gt. This car's range is anywhere from 48-53k. Its not top of the line, it isn't as limited of a model and its closely related to the boss 302 despite what they really want to say. Lastly, the evolution of performance from previous years does not justify having to price it crazily. GM was mad setting it at 75k and the z/28 has far more tech.

Edit Also, the z/28 was marketed as a one trick pony dedicated track car with the goal in mind it wouldn't commonly be used as a DD. Ford hes developed theirs with the intent it could also be DD'd different market equate to different costs (estimated cars bought)

$75K is laughable for that car!
