Thanks for taking the time to write that.
You are welcome. Enjoy your car... with whatever fuel you choose to fill it!

So just filled up the tank for he 1st time on my new GT. Saw in the owners manual to use 87 octane. Now am seeing on the Ford site that all test data was done using 93 octane. I have 91 or 92 around here, but ended up filling it up with 87. Wondering how many of you daily driver guys are using the higher octane stuff. Would it be better for the engine or break-in period? Can you feel the car being quicker with 93? Never seen any of the 85E stuff that I see you guys talking about on here. Just curious.

I've ran both, could hardly tell a difference so I went back to 87. It's what's in the manual and I'm a cheap bastard. ;)

The manual calls for 87, but I use 93 octane for peace of mind. Makes me feel better when I use high quality, name brand 93!

As for a power difference, the car has never seen less than 93 octane so I can't help you there...

Use the search function. There are a lot of threads containing humerous arguments between forum members about such an irrelevant topic, lol!

If you're tuned for a specific octane, then that is a different story!

I use both 87 and 93 octane, I haven't noticed a difference.

Hehe. I see there are lots of veiws and replies to this thread, almost as if lots of people are interested in the topic?

Curious if the ones upset about the topic being repeated are the ones using 93 octane or if it's the ones using 87?
Sorry put the same question on the other active thread on basically the same topic. I'm liking this forum, just need to get better with my search skilz.

Regular search function or Premium search function?

Not sure if you are making a funny, as in Premium mustang vs the entry level. Or is this forum like one of the other forums I'm on where I pay to be a premium member and in exchange I get access to a better search tool?

I've been using 91 but I switched to 87 for this tank just for the hell of it. We pay the highest gas prices in North America right now, so it's 3.78/gallon for 87 octane here and well over 4 bucks for premium.

I haven't heard any knocks or anything, seems to be smooth. My gas mileage seemed to improve a little bit too. No loss in power that I could tell.

I only ran 87 when I had my GTs.

Why spend more when the difference is not noticeable? Around here they also tend to make the higher octane gas by adding ethanol, and I'd rather have less ethanol in my fuel.
